Discussion on giving back.

So I spoke with a few of you about this (it was actually Joe's idea). Sorry I've been a little MIA lately, had a lot going on.

I wanted to get together with a few people to discuss some sort of nfp event/project/cause we can 'adopt' and try to galvanise some action within the CS community. Could be a community involvement, an outreach or a green activity.

Not sure what/when/how/where, but I do know why; A part of a maturing community (as we have done as well as, if not better then, the best of CS communities) is to add a social responsibility aspect. While CS is inherently a 'give back' society, it would be nice to see that added to the "event" category of CS.

I don't mind doing this meetup at a starbucks in midtown or something (I know no one wants to come up to the heights), but I have no problem hosting. Any opinions/ideas are more then welcome.

If someone knows of something like this going on, let me know (don't need to waste time/energy; would love to offer to get involved if someone else is doing it). Also, if you know of anyone particular who would be a great addition to this, email me. I'm trying to keep it down to a limited number of people, because too many people in a conversation means no one is heard.
