Big Buddha hike on Fri 17th May
Posted May 12th, 2013 - 2:00 am by from Outlying Islands, China (Permalink)
It's a public holiday next Friday due to the Buddha's Birthday.

Let's go to Po Lin monastery and the Big Buddha and see what it's all about.

http://www.discoverhongkong.com/eng/see-do/events-festivals/highlight-events/cultural-celebrations.jsp?page=3

When: Friday 17th May
Where to meet: Mui Wo Ferry Pier at 10:20. Take the 9:50 fast ferry from Central Ferry Pier number 6. Cost: 40 HKD

From Mui Wo we will take the bus to Ngong Ping to see the Buddha bathing ceremony. Bus costs 27 HKD and will take about 40 minutes to arrive.

Then we will hike out of the Big Buddha area, depending on the weather conditions we can go up to Lantau Peak then down to the pass at Pak Tam Au, from where you can get a bus back to Mui Wo or to the MTR at Tung Chung. Otherwise (if the cloud is low) we can hike down to Shek Pik reservoir from where you can pick up the same buses going to either Mui Wo Ferry Pier or Tung Chung MTR station. These return buses will be about 15 HKD.

Sign up here if interested. I will also create this as an event on the Hong Kong page
