Not crazy, there is an annual hiking charity event on Lantau Trail in which participants have to complete the whole trail continuously within 30 hours. There is an even longer trail - MachLehose Trail which is 100km and participants have to finish it within 48 hours in Oxfam Trailwalker. Not so crazy!

If you want to make it a few days trip, I suggest you spend the first day completing section 1-3 and stay over in Ngong Ping (there is a Youth Hostel). Complete sections 4-6 and stayover in Yi O (also a Youth Hostel there) for the 2nd night. Spend the following 2 days finishing the remaining parts, possibly with a stayover along the Cheung Sha Beach there are village houses for rent or just stay at the beach. The first 2 days, when your body is fresh and energetic, will be a bit harder but the last 2 days, when muscle fatigue starts striking, will be leisure walking.
