Hiking in December 2011
Posted August 4th, 2011 - 2:44 am by from Jelutong, Malaysia (Permalink)
Is December suitable for hiking in HK? Anyone interested in organising hiking trips any day from 2 to 5 December? Thank you for your responses.

Hi Shirl,
I'm pretty new to the city. But the temp. should be around 15-10 celcius degress. I suppose it's a comfy season to hike. I have yet to do my first hiking here, but i know hk has many well managed routes, of different levels.
I would personally be up for joining or initiating a trip.
But it's a bit too early to say now. And it seems to me that the hiking group has been pretty quiet. Rather in the Hong Kong group, i've seen some people organizing such trips.
Do voice close to the date if ur still up for that.
cheers,
yan

Hi Yan,
Thanks for showing an interest. I'll most probably be staying at an apt in Central. I plan to hike in Lantau Island or other places. Yes, it's a little too early to plan but that will give us plenty of time to read up online. I will definitely keep you updated then. Hope to see you with other interested CSers. Regards, shirl

I did this route twice and if good weather you see some coastal scenery of southern H.K. Island.

Hello Cheng,

Interested in leading this hike? You don't have to decide now as it is about 4 months away! Hahaha!

Posted August 5th, 2011 - 1:57 am by from Kowloon West, China (Permalink)
Sure! 3rd or 4th of Dec should be fined for me. Let me know once you fixed your schedule to H.K.

Greetings,

I would love to join you guys if the hike is not too hard. I love hiking but it is so hot right now.

Anyone and everyone is welcome.... the more the merrier.

Posted August 5th, 2011 - 11:49 am by from Jelutong, Malaysia (Permalink)
Thank you. It's certain that I'll be in HK on from 2DEC till 6DEC. Since you're going to lead the hiking team, you decide whether it's 3rd or 4th. I'm ok as I've nothing planned yet. I'm open for other hiking trails too. Since I'm not a local, it's best that you decide on an easy meeting place before we move on to the hiking site.

Posted August 8th, 2011 - 2:49 am by from Kowloon West, China (Permalink)

So 3/Dec or 4/Dec is still open to all. The meeting place for this route can be at bus stop in Central which is convenience for everyone. It take about 30 minutes by bus to the starting point for about 3 hours walk to Tai Long Wan where we can take mini bus back to Shau Kei Wan. If you really want other hike after this may be we can arrange other one in other day as my favourited hiking place is Sai Kung.

Posted August 8th, 2011 - 3:16 am by from Hong Kong Island, China (Permalink)
ya, good idea, or shau kei wan MTR station entrance A2....

Posted August 8th, 2011 - 5:26 am by from Jelutong, Malaysia (Permalink)
Okay, thanks. I'm up for both the hikes. Since my days in HK are limited to 2/12 till 6/12, may I suggest that we go to Tai Long Wan on the 3rd and then to Sai Kung on the 5th. That will give me a day of rest in between :)

Posted August 8th, 2011 - 7:42 am by from Kowloon West, China (Permalink)
Let's make it 3rd Dec. and decide the route for 5th after that. Will advice when/where to meet before Dec.
Lewis, do you able to hike with us?
Anyone are welcome to join!

I would love to join you guys. Let me know when the plans are confirmed.

Hello Lewis,

Thanks for sharing the website. I just had a quick browse at it. Wonderful! Lots of relevant information :)
No, this would be my third trip to HK (on transit for the trip to ancestral home in Toishan, Guangdong). That's why I am not interested in those touristic spots anymore. I would love to go "off the beaten track".
It would be nice if there are local CSers leading us, CSers from outside HK who are interested.

Hi! I want to join too. It sounds great and I would love to hike with a group of people! Im going to Beijing soon but think I will be in HK around dec.

I'm up for everything and I know wherever we go it will be beautiful and great.

I don't mind a hard walk, nor an easy one.

So lets keep in touch!
Take care and hope to see you all in Dec =)

Hi Nicolas,
It is good time to start hiking in H.K. and good to hear you like hiking too. I am going to do hiking 22/Oct with some local friends, most likely we shall make a easier route from Tung Chung to Tai O in Lantau. Let me know if you are interested so I will inform you where to meet once our schedule are fixed.

Hey Iza and Megan,

Great that you two are interested in hiking Lantau Peak...I've never hike there before...would be great if someone has experience to lead us. As I know, the sunrise view is amazing too... people would camp there and see it in the next morning
