Host a house concert!
Posted April 15th, 2012 - 1:01 am by from Brooklyn, United States (Permalink)
Hello, there!

House concerts are an amazing way to bring people together, hear great music in a very intimate setting and they are way cheaper than a night out!

Any space is a good space for it, too! All you have to do is be a music lover, invite friends over and enjoy! Most guests pitch in with food/wine and a little something for the musician.

I'm a touring musician from Brooklyn looking for a kind and music-loving host for house concerts in Switzerland, Spain or France for the first week in July. I have shows and a festival already booked in Belgium and Germany and in Barcelona, and I would love to set up a few more cool shows.

I play original songs on guitar, banjo and uke. The music is old-timey meets Eastern European--with a dose of Brooklyn street cred! In fact, last year, I opened a show for the famous Emmylou Harris!

Many of the songs are stories about old, weird history, so the music is always interesting and intriguing. It's Carter Family meets Decemberists meets Beirut meets Tom Waits meets Gillian Welch!

Below are some press quotes. You can also go to my profile to see what other CSers who have attended my house concerts think.

Thanks for your time and any suggestions.

"Local folkie Robin Aigner croons witty, vintage-sounding tunes with dashes of klezmer and swing." —Timeout New York

"Devious, haunting-voiced Americana siren/songwriter Robin Aigner – whose new album Bandito is amazing." —JPop.com

"Quietly seductive and addictive, very nice." —Sepiachord

"Her idiosyncratic, detail-oriented lyrical style is more in line with, say, the Decemberists' Colin Meloy than any gingham-wearing folkie types." —All Music Guide

"Robin Aigner’s Bandito has the effect of leaving you wanting more instead of wishing there had been less. In the field with everything being so damned big, the best trick she pulls off is letting the whole be just the right size." —Dw. Dunphy, Popdose

"Like the artist she’s most likely to be compared to, Laura Cantrell, Aigner is known best for her voice: a highly sought after as a singer on the oldtimey/Americana circuit. Her knockout punch is nuance – she can wrench an album’s worth of intensity out of a split-second’s hesitation or a typically understated, seductive melisma to wrap up a phrase. Yet it’s her songwriting that takes centerstage, a feast of historically-imbued, out-of-the-box steampunk imagination." —Lucid Culture
