Exploring vegan NY
Posted September 27th, 2011 - 9:56 pm by from Paris, France (Permalink)
Hi Green New Yorkers and travelers,

I'm going to be in New York from the 2nd until the 15th of October and I would like to check out if it's really a paradise for vegans ;). It will be my first time in the States and I don't know anybody in NY, so I would be glad to try some veggie places with you!

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi Gabriella -

hope to meet up with you next week. as a vegan, NYC is THE best place i have ever travelled to. there is even a book you can get at a few places called "the vegan guide to new york" which lists all the vegan restaurants by district. and even a lot of non vegan or vegetarian places seem to be quite veg friendly. i am going to miss NYC so much when i go back to Aus.

Cheers,

Lou

Hi

Would be cool to find some vegan spots to hang out in and share in the human experience. I was in NYC before and was surprised how most places had a vegan option and New Yorkers in general are really open to a plant based diets :-)

The Vegan Guide to New York... it sounds good! I should pick up a copy somewhere. Thanks for the tip, Lou!

It's great then we could organize something next week!
It seems that Adam knows very well the best places.
Which day would you prefer?

Thanks for your number, Adam, I'll stay in touch.
By the way, I'm not French, but Hungarian ;).

See you very soon!

I love the Loving Hut, too, Adam!!! We've got one in Paris.
I'll check out the Cowgirl's Bakery, thanks for the tip!
Though, it seems to close at 8 pm.
I thought that it would be great to get together for a dinner, so those who work could join us, too.
So taking in consideration all your comments, I would like to propose a dinner on Monday evening at the Candle Cafe, a place that I really would like to check out. What about at 7:30pm?

Hi guys,

I`ve arrived in New York this afternoon and I`m staying in Brooklyn (close to Prospect Park). I wanted to get a US phone card upon my arrival (as my cell phone works only in France), but the family at whose place I`m staying says that it`s not possible, because I should either have a contract with a phone company or get a "cheap" deal for about $60 (phone + card). Is it correct? Other suggestions would be welcome ;)!
Also finally, who`s coming to the Candle Cafe tomorrow?
Adam + Lou are you still interested?
Hopefully, see you tomorrow!

hey - glad to hear you made it ok.

yes, i'm keen to go to Candle tomorrow. will see you there. not sure what my plans are tomorrow, but if you want to do anything/go anywhere earlier, let me know.

as for a phone, is your french phone "unlocked" if so, i'd just get a USA prepaid sim and swap them once or twice a day, then you can keep all your numbers in the one place. there's no point in going on a contract if you;re only here for a few weeks. or else i guess it's buy a cheap phone and prepaid and juggle 2 phones.

anyway, let me know about tomorrrow.

cheers
