Vegan Restaurants In NYC, baby.
Posted July 15th, 2013 - 7:23 pm by from Chicago, United States (Permalink)
Hi! I am going to be in NYC in October, and wondering where (as a vegan) I should definitely and maybe grab a bite to eat. I don't do many processed foods, so soy and meat substitutes aren't of an interest to me. I like plant-based meals. Get back to me with any suggestions, I'll eat 'em up!

When are you gonna be in NYC? I'll be there from Oct. 8th until Oct. 12th...
We might can meet up to discover some vegan restaurants...
A friend told me, that "Red Bamboo" is great!

Red bamboo is good but it's all fake meats (soy chicken cutlet or hot wings) search the word restuarants in this group and you'll find lots of options. I'm always down for something new if you end up setting something up.

Also lots of great indian places

There are quite a few restaurants, most which tend to be on the more expensive end. I carry food from home everyday. However, when I HAVE to eat out I often go to Wholefoods supermarket, especially the one on Union Square. Besides the nice view from the second floor, they have a good buffet variety with plenty of vegan options. Still not all that cheap, but affordable.

Also, I highly recommend Angelica Kitchen:

A list, though it includes some fake meat stuff:

If all you want is vegetables, and you're willing to go a bit upscale, Dirt Candy is a must and Pure Food and Wine is great. Quintessence is also good and not quite as pricey as Pure.
