Berlin Street Photography.
Posted June 14th, 2012 - 11:01 am by from Copenhagen, Denmark (Permalink)
Hey everybody.

I am a native Berliner, but living abroad for the past 5 years. I often return, and take some time off everything for old friends and to concentrate on photography for a few days.

I am a film user, old cameras, mediumformat. Such things. I have some digital thigns as well, of course, but I enjoy using the analog.

I'm gonna be in Berlin July 4th-11th before going to Spain, and had to realize that most of my friends seem to be travelling so I have aaa lot of time on my hands and thought if anyone fancied themselves a street photographer, it could be fun to get together and exchange.

Let me know if you're up to it!

Jess

me too, on the weekend or on the evenings after work for low-light/night shootings

Posted June 20th, 2012 - 3:14 pm by from Copenhagen, Denmark (Permalink)
low light, night shooting is great.

I've been wanting for ages to do a series of people in bars, or of streets and large neon signs.

I had Copenhagen in mind for that, loads of lovely old neon signs here. But I'm sure there must be things in Berlin. Now, even tho I was born there, I haven't been there much in the last 5 years. But yes! Let's try that.

Nighttime in the city always means there'll be beers. So nothing can go wrong :)

Jess ( Hi!), Daniel and Jana.

I'll be there from the 4th to the 11th; I'm really bad at planning, the truth is i hate to have plans, and when you have them, they never work out as they should have, so i stopped making plans altogether ;)
.. but most my friends are working daytime, and i visit family a little but not much, soo pretty much all the rest of the time I'm gonna spent shooting.

Let's stay in touch and figure something out as we go, no?

Let us know as soon as you have a date and time!

Take care
Jana

Yep, it's time 2 Meet & Shoot! :-)

Woah.
Quite the resonance. ;)

I do want to go out shooting. I don't do event unless someone pays me ;) they're painfully boring. There's nothing fun about extraordinary people in extraordinary places.

I got in yesterday. I'm a bit I'll, but it seems to be the rule for whenever I travel. I'll get over it.

Listen, I'm happy people wanna share their experience with me, but being a street photographer I cannot go out and roam about with a large group. I won't catch anything when making such a commotion. I hope you guys understand.

Looks like my evenings are planned out with Dinners and Drinks with friends and Family that work on daytime. So I have the Hours before to do what I want.

Today I was going to spend a few hours in the Pergamonmuseum, for reminiscing. Then I'll hit the streets around Neukölln, maybe Sonnenalllee and Karl Marx Straße. It' my old neighborhood..

In as big as a group as this seems to be, none of you seemingly practicing actual street photography, I'd be up for Drinks. Gladly. I'm not sure going out in a gang for shooting would render any results. I'm not a very good teacher either, but if seeing how it works is what you are interested in, I could take 1 or max 2 people a few rounds around Alexanderplatz, if we find a day.
Thinking of drinks or the evening shooting, I think my evenings are all planned out tho.. mhh

Oh, don''t be offended, Jess. I'm sure everybody here is good with their camera. But The few of you that are sporting a portfolio kind of collection of works, do not seem to be doing what I do or doing anything I'd be interested in - not even street photography anywhere. Nobody was describing any projects or ideas, places of note, that would be interesting for street photography either. So it looked much like this was a group of people passionate about photography, but no street photographers. People were looking at me for ideas, so if we ended up doing anything, it would be where and how I am already doing it...

I'm sorry. I don't shoot very much, but I am very serious and particular about it.
I was surprised there was anyone answering, street photographers tend to be hard to find. I just wanted to try anyway..

Either way, you all seem to be super excited about it, so just because I haven't found what I'm looking for, it don't mean you guys can't go out and work together. You should go for it.

Jessica is not a matter of to be offended.

But you are quite confused, you know? First you post a message where you say you are going to be free in Berlin, nothing to do coz friends are on vacation, it could be fun to get together and to exchange.

Then you say you got evenings busy, friends and family, bla bla bla.. don't like big groups, none of you practicing street photography.

And when you talk about "street" photography in such a professional way, sorry but I can't just stop laughing.

Talking about your pictures, some of them they are good ones, but honestly you don't say anything with your pictures, you don't tell a story, what kind of projects are you talking about?

So, don't get offended either, there's nothing of personal, as I don't know you I don't judge you, but you lost your credit of seriousness with your messages.

Apart from that, as we don't eat on the same plate, as we don't sleep in the same bed, that's fine you just say you are not interested anymore.

For all the other that are seriously interested just into meet and to go out for shooting and not feeling himself/herself a superhero, let's just do it!!

It's ok. I think I was looking for something very particular without communicating it properly. It's a bit tricky too, as it is so subjective as you say.. :) I didn't mean to cause such a commotion.

Christian, shhh, please. Everybody does their thing. I am not interested in arguing.

Posted July 6th, 2012 - 9:51 am by from Berlin, Germany (Permalink)
Me neither, I don't wanna argue :)

Communication is anyway one of the most difficult challenge in societies, work environments, relationships of any kind. And it looks like that in the age of the multimedia communication technologies, people are getting even more problems. But well, I'll stop now with philosophical discussions.

I also wish you a nice time in Berlin, as you are a Berliner I think you can deeply enjoy this wonderful city :-)

Christian

Glad you're not too angry, Christian.
I know I can come off a bit harsh and I am by no means easy to be around, I suppose the internets don't help there much, you're right. ;)

I have never loved Berlin more than when I moved away. Things have changed so much tho. I get a little bitter sometimes.

Best of luck to everyone!
So sorry, Jess and Christian, that this suddenly seemed to have gotten so much more serious than intended.
