1st Question?
Posted January 23rd, 2009 - 2:19 pm by from Perth, Australia (Permalink)
Umm, after a lot of not much happening here, I do have a question about this group.

Under the group description it is stated;

"THIS GROUP HAS BEEN SETUP FOR A TESTING PERIOD OF 30 DAYS, IT MIGHT GET DELETED AFTER 30 DAYS IF IT DOES NOT WORK OUT AS WE EXPECTED."

And;

"- purpose:
establish an communication channel for all CouchSurfing members who would like to get in touch with ambassadors from all around the Globe.

- gain helpful tips from experienced members"

So while I see that there are a number of very experienced members who have joined up to the group, should it not be advertised to newer, less experienced members that this forum exists and that they can ask their questions here.

The group was established on the 4th of December and already it is now the 23rd. 19 days have past, over half the time that was given to see if the group would work or not, and at the time I write this, not a single post.

Should this be put down to a failed attempt, where we can all learn something from its implementation, or is there going to be a sudden burst of activity in the last week???

Maybe it's just a small "let's see how much attention these guys actually pay".

Maybe something holds the further development.

Maybe there is small argue about it's definition.

Maybe...

Or maybe nobody knows that it exists ;)

Well, being now that it has been over 50 days since the group was formed, I am going to guess that it is not going to be deleted.

Maybe instead it should be put as a news item on the home page. Let the new members (who I am guessing the group is directed at) know about it and come ask their questions.

Well Daniel, while I thought this group was a good idea, I got curious about it and sent in a CUQ, category: Ambs. The response I got was that the group is being discontinued.. which I consider unfortunate, but I'm sure they have their reasons.

Yeah too bad, I also think it is a great idea, it could relive the CUQ of some work, like a live faq.. ah well..

Good to see you here Simon.

At the moment we don't have too much problem getting Ambs involved. Just no one really asking questions
