Looking for host from 11-16th of June
Posted May 7th, 2009 - 8:06 pm by from Jarfalla, Sweden (Permalink)
Hi guys!

I hope it is OK to post a surf-request in this group. (Didn't see any guidelines asking me not too...)

Arriving: Thursday (11/6) at 22:35 by plane
Leaving: Tuesday (16/6) at 9:25 by plane

My plan is to try and join in on as many of the events during this weekend as possible (i.e. all the parties and day-time activities) since it all looks so much fun!

Also if you wouldn't be able to host me the whole time I would be really happy for a couch to stay also a shorter period :)

Oh, and I am bringing a sleeping-bag, don't smoke, don't drink alcohol (but party a lot) and give really good back rubs if anyone wants that!

Looking forward to hear from YOU!

Hugs and kisses,
Magnus

Hi Magnus.. did it work?

Posted May 18th, 2009 - 11:12 am by from Montreal, Canada (Permalink)
.. because I'm doing the same here :)

I started posting requests, and will continue, but while the time before the Vienna Calling shouldn't be much of a problem, I realize that for the Vienna Calling itself, I better have a host attending it too...

I'd need a host for 11-14, but will be in Vienna from the 5th on, unsure yet where I'll stay but confident to find a host :)

Hi everydody !
I'll be there too !
:-))
I'd need a host for 11-14 too Anick-Marie !

Very difficult to find a host, sending individual couch requests...
So, as Magnus, I posted here...

See you there !

And so might I be, too (for myself and for Heydi)...

We have a couple of "Maybe"s (none of them being able to confirm before in 2 weeks or so...) and a fall-back plan - but that would be cruel if we had to do that. Not for us - but 2 some others, though (can't reveal any details because of the ToU's...)

Anyone???

I've reserved my couch already in January, and now I'm quite happy I did that :)

I am knocking on the same door. Can someone point me to the end of the queue? :-P

Maybe the Vienna Calling organization can coordinate open couches so it's and more efficient for all of us (hosts and surfers) to find something. Clearly, although I am a big fan of individual requests, for such a meeting as this it surely doesn't really work.

See you all in a few weeks!

Problem is: I don't wanna decide whose couch I surf!

ALL the CS hosts in Vienna seem so wonderfully awesome - who should I pick then???

I guess I'll follow the tip from Moe's & Gela's profile's "Teach, Learn, Share" - that seems incredibly intelligent to me:-D
And I just love guiding newbies into the right way (MY WAY) before have a chance to spoil them

Maat et joot! / Take care!

I'd be pretty much interested to see what will be your final choice, Ulf, and hear what were your criteria.

As for me, I again started to send out couch-requests for Vienna today ... I chose a person that offers a couch for several people AND seems pretty much interesting, cause I like chatting about the event with more than just one person in the night before falling asleep ...

But I like your suggestions too, Birgit.

See y'all in Vienna

Hi there,
I'm new to this group but may i post a comment on your problem...

I guess that a lot of viennese people use this weekend to escape because on Thursday is a national holiday and everybody who is free on Friday might desire to travel. Usually at this long weekends the city is very quiet because of that.

Maybe it is simply bad luck that the birthday is exactly on one of these long weekends... and besides that it is vacation time...

I could host 1 or 2 persons but as I've been working my ass off lately I will also try to escape the city. So I'll let you know as soon as i know if I'll get the Friday off work. If I have to work you can of course stay at my place...

take care
Verena

For my part, I must admit that individual requests have worked..

But as I was always told by potential hosts that it is "a back up plan in case I don't find something else", I still wanted to give a try to finding a host that would be participating at the Vienna Calling too, as a matter of fun and convenience.

The latter did not work, and so I confirmed with one of the non-participants to whom I have fully made aware of the situation. But I have faced what Verena points out: I have received 4 maybe's and "write to us later" because of the holiday, but It would be difficult for me to look for a host later - I'm hitchiking to Berlin, then am at the Berlin Beach Camp... so it's 7 days without my drug. Can you imagine, Birgit!

I sent 2 couchrequests, and got 3 couchoffers back. 1 for all the days, 1 for half the days, and a third really nice girl just showed up on my inbox saying that she saw on the meetings page that I needed a couch (I guess I didnd't really update).

I think there are still plenty of couches available... :-D

Hello Soraya,

how can they not attend Vienna Calling ... I'm shocked ;-)

Well we will have some Information about Public Transport Tickets out there soon.
For you the best option would be the 8 Day Pass, which is valid for 8 Days (Midnight till Midnight). Only thing is you have to remember to validate it every day :)

Hi Stefan,
I see only a weekticket which goes from Monday to Monday. Have a look at the internet:

Get the best

As far as I know the 8 day pass is a pack of 8 daily ticket, that's why Stefan mentioned validating it every day.
I believe it costs around 27 euros and it's called "8 Tage Wien".

plus you can share this ticket (the 8 day pass), meaning that various people can use the same ticket, you just have to validate as often as the amount of people using it...

and if you don't use up all the days i am sure some of us will buy it back from you (i would at least) ;)
