Hello everyone, my name is Chris and I am moving to Nasu machi in September. Since I will not know anyone in Nasu or Tochigi, I would love to meet some people there! Especially Japanese people, as I wish to improve my Japanese and learn more about Japanese culture! However, anyone is ok!

Hi Chris, I'm living in Ashikaga Tochigi (栃木県足利市) It's pretty far away from you, and a relatively small, boring town. but you are always welcome to come for a visit. However, there's a big wine festival that is good enough that people from all over Japan come to 足利 for it. This year it will be November 19th. hopefully you can come. http://www.cocowine.com/contents/english/special-events/2011-harvest-festival

wow I just looked at the website, and it looks super epic! I went to a wine festival in my college town (A very agricultural area) and it was a blast. Ashikaga is only 2 hrs away by express train, so super doable. What are you doing out in Japan? I have also been looking into maybe doing weekend trips to Utsunomiya when I cant make it out to Tokyo, and it seems to be pretty cool. Have you been out to Utsuonmiya before?

For now I'm teaching English. But if all goes well on the 日本語能力試験 (JLPT) in December, I'll be looking for different work after that. If not...maybe I'll go back home to Canada.

Since Utsunomiya isn't much closer to me than Tokyo and I have more friends in Tokyo, I've only gone to Utsunomia twice so far. That being said, both times I went I had a lot of fun.

How about you Chris? Will you be teaching English as well? Did you study Japanese at school as well? Your post seemed a little too good to be done by an online translation site.
