The area is still a great place to live. Even though rents aren't decreasing and several new buildings have popped up over the past few years, the neighborhood has managed to retain some of it's old charm and artistic flair.

As far as food choices, there are SOOOO many. There's a vegetarian Thai food spot that I probably keep in business with my orders alone. It's called Pukk. They're located on 1st between E. 4th and E. 5th. Their $6 lunch menu includes entree, appetizer, miso soup, and choice of white or brown rice. Take-out, delivery, or dine-in!!! There's a Whole Foods that just opened up a few years ago at the corner of East Houston and Christie. They're not cheap, but Whole Foods' variety is almost unparalleled. The cheapest groceries can be found at Key Foods (my regular spot). It's a 24/7 grocery store at the corner of E. 4th and Avenue A. There's plenty of hangouts in the neighborhood. Here's a small list:

* Arlene's Grocery (rock)
* Piano's (rock)
* Joe's Pub (jazz, R&B, etc)
* Webster Hall (rock, burlesque, etc.)
* La Mama Theater (indie theater)
* New York Theater Workshop
* Karma (bar)
* NuBlu (R&B, nu-jazz, experimental, DJ)

The list goes on....

Hit me up if you want more detailed info...

Welcome in advance!
