Hi Spela,

Welcome to Istanbul!

Which style do you dance? istanbul scene is predominantly crossbody on1. there are few places where you can dance cuban or crossbody on2.

Here are some good nights you can try:

Tuesday: Therapy @ nisantasi bachata
Wednesday: My house @ taksim. mostly xbody on1.
Thursday: Mackolik @ kadikoy. mostly xbody on1.
Friday: Mackolik @ kadikoy or Big plate @ istinye
Saturday: Fresco @ Taksim istanbul technical university. Mostly on2.
Sunday: some schools have practice sessions. they are like afternoon socials in studios.

this was a very useful information - going to visit the Great City in September - finally!!!!

so my slightly related question will be - do you dance kizomba? do you have places where you dance kizomba and casino?

i will be living somewhere near Istiklal - so where are the best places to go?

and also - does anyone practise capoeira? if yes - where do you have your roda (de rua)? would love to join ;o)))))

Kizomba not arrived here yet, thanks god. I hope it never will :)

wow ;o))))

what a reaction - may i ask why?

Posted July 2nd, 2012 - 6:03 am by from Istanbul, Turkey (Permalink)
Kizomba has no relation with salsa and other relative dances like chacha bachata or rumba. it has completely different roots but promoters find it easy to emerge kizomba in salsa events. it's no different to put swing or tango in salsa events.

Now it's growing around the world and festival organisers started to put a kizomba room in salsa congresses even though there is no bachata room in many festivals.

Besides, kizomba is boring :)

i have another opinion about kizomba but let it stay mine ;o))

would love to bachata with you ;o)

your salsa - is it LA, NY or casino?
