23 - 30 April 2013: A place in Gold Coast for house in Auckland OR place in Sri Lanka ANY TIME OF THE YEAR*
Posted March 5th, 2013 - 11:44 pm by from Auckland, New Zealand (Permalink)
We are looking to exchange homes with somebody in Goldcoast or near from 23 April 2013 to 4th May 2013. But we are also interested in future exchanges anywhere in the world.

I'm just looking for a nice place to stay! So if we're welcome as surfers, exchangers or housesitters, it doesn't really matter to me, as long as everyone is happy about it!

And our home is yours when you arrive to explore lovely Auckland/NZ, and we got many options to offer. If there's no any of our vacant rooms/accommodations available, by the time you are here in Auckland, we will still not let you down and we may offer you to surf in our lounge and or may reshuffle kids rooms and will arrange couple furnished rooms for you, for your stay!

(Also on another note, we have established families in Sri Lanka in Matara ( South) / Colombo (West) who are very generous and hospitable for responsible sensible travelers. And also we own a beach house which is currently rented for expatriates, and these too may be possible, when it is available* if you travel this part of the world.)

We are two adults and two children, ages 15 yrs ( twins , one of each).

Our home is located in Greenlane/Newmarket in Auckland, New Zealand, easy walk to Newmarket shopping, and only 2 x stages to CBD, bus is only a minute walk from home.

Famous Cornwall park / One Tree Hill /Mt Eden is only within walking distance

Famous Coromendal beaches are only 2 x hours away. And Rotorua one of the very attractive touristic towns is only 2 and half hours away.

Ours is a small and simple cottage, in a nearly quarter acre section, in a great location not far from cbd.

NOTE: We have self contained furnished unit downstairs with 3 x rooms as well a 1 x bedroom attached unit, self contained and fully furnished, for permanent/short term guests. So, if any of those are vacant, whilst you and family are here, we still can host you there and this is possible any time of the year when it is available so please ask.

The house itself has a kitchen, one bathroom, dining area/living room and 3 x bedrooms and study/office with an additional bed

Master bedroom has double bed and other 2 x rooms are with king single bed in each room .

There is wi-fi / unlimited broadband access.

As already mentioned, we have a self contained unit downstairs ( with separate utilities and separate entrance) and needs to be a bit mindful and considerate with the 'excessive noise' as it is a house built in 1950s it does not have the floor board insulation done those days, so we carpeted the lovely rimu floors to minimize the noise to downstairs.

Also we have yet another guest living in a studio attached to the main house and he too has own/separate utilities and entrance.

We all share the same hot water cylinder ( a big one, i think it is 225L and we NEVER have run out of hot water as we all are sensible users of water. Same with the other utilities. We usually take 5 minute shower per person every day and that leaves enough hot water for everyones use.

Our guests in downstairs 3 x bedroom accommodation and 1 x bedroom attached unit are professionals, some are kiwi and others are friendly responsible travelers staying a bit longer term, earning /saving for their trips whilst living the good life with other kiwis.

Kohimarama beaches, Pt Chevalier beaches are not far from home.

Many places to hike, cycle and kayak.

24 hour opened grocery shopping, 'Count Down' is only a 3 x minute walk from home. Remuera train station is only 5 x minute walk away and bus is only a minute walk from home.

We do not have pets /animals other than few fish to feed, and I shall leave instructions or else will move them to my sisters or guests downstairs to care them if we are away.

We would also be interested in including a car swap as part of the exchange.

We have a BBQ in our front deck for your use and if needed access please ask.

Here are some links to interesting places near our home.

Cornwall park is a country retreat, so close to city only a 8 minute walk from home

Waiheke Island and Rangitoto Islands are only 45 minutes away from our home on a ferry and may be great day trip for you and family:

Everybody's must is Rotorua a very touristic spot to go

Coromendal beaches are our guests favourite and affordable weekenders and you may want to include those as well.

And if you like a bit of adventure and if the crossing is open you may want to do the Tongariro Crossing and it is a spectacular hike and needs reasonable fitness level to do those. I did it last year, you will do it for sure :)

Further up North, Cape Rainga Ninety Miles beach for a different, light of experience worth exploring if you still got more time for few days to spend there and not to forget the Bay of Islands on your way up North.

This is only a small snapshot of 'Scenics' in North Island and a good 10 -15 days (minimum) may need to explore those and relax and visit - just to 'feel' the ambiance.

There are so many wonderful places to visit in our area,

this is just a very small sample.

Hear from you soon.
