Spanish night...anyone interested??
Posted November 2nd, 2009 - 7:10 am by from Gothenburg, Sweden (Permalink)

Hi all,

During my stay here in Vancouver I have met several people (actually friends) that have learned Spanish but they don't have the opportunity to put it into practice.

I promised them some only-Spanish meetings but I was thinking to extend the invitation to more CSers and if there are enough people interested in then we can organize maybe one Spanish meeting per month...maybe 2, that is up to you.

The idea is to make this meeting fun too, I mean, sometimes it could be a potluck, sometimes we can watch a movie, and discuss about it, maybe listening and singing music, reading poetry or short stories or even cooking recipes... but everything in SPANISH. Also we wouldn't have to stay at home, we can go out and just speak Spanish! I am open to more ideas too. :)

Why I am doing this? because people invest effort, money and time in learning/improving a new language and it is so easy to forget if you don't have anybody to speak with. I find this lamentable and I am pretty sure you too. I have had the same problem in Mexico with my French and now it sucks but now I'm glad I am living with a francophone roomy and if that wasn't enough there is a French conversation night group in CS sooo... why not a Spanish night between friends?

I can offer my house to host the meetings and invite some other Spanish speaking people too.

Let me know if you like the idea and then we can figure out the details.

Have a nice week!!

Hi Daniela,

I haven't spoken Spanish in ages and it's getting very rusty... I'd love to practice again I'm new in town and this would also be a great way for me to meet new people. So I'm definitely up for Spanish meetings!

Hola chicos!

Daniela
