Hey Csers,

I was wondering if there is anyone that could share some light on me travelling to the states this sept. Ill only be there 10 days and will be based in LA. I want to do a bit of travelling but unfortunately this is my first time to the states and i have no clue on the travel time and the travel methods.

So if anyone has some ideas on places that i must visit or which state i should consider or which i shouldnt waste time with please do give your input.

Thanks! Look to hearing all suggestions!

Google maps (http://maps.google.com) has quite accurate travel times for the USA. From my recollections, though, San Francisco and Las Vegas are each about five hours drive time from LA. I heartily recommend either place. If I had to choose one or the other, I would probably recommend slightly higher Las Vegas, just because it is a very interesting place.

If you do decide to go to San Francisco instead of Las Vegas, you might also consider driving over to Yosemite National Park, quite impressive.

San Diego is about two hours. If you've never been to Mexico, you can ride the light rail from many places in San Diego (park and ride) to the Mexico border and then walk across. To get just a taste of Mexico, though Tijuana is quite different from the mainland, inland big cities, such as Guadalajara or Mexico City. Still, it is interesting.

What places are you planning to see in LA?
