21 Year old looking to share a flat in HK for work at HKUST
Posted July 29th, 2011 - 12:16 am by from Cairo, Egypt (Permalink)
Hi! I'm 21, and I just graduated from University. I am from California. I'm moving to HK to work at HKUST for a year contract, and I am looking for a flat to share, or a room to lease in a shared flat! I am fun, friendly, and outgoing, but also respectful of others. I don't smoke and I'm allergic to cats. I am clean, and I love to run, eat, and cook.

I'm hoping to find a place near HKUST, but Kowloon, Mongkok, Yau Ma Tei or Central would be fine. I am hoping to find a budget place...like around 4000HK a month, but I'm willing to pay a bit more if the place is very good. If anyone has any information on this, let me know! I am moving to HK next week and start work August 8th! I am staying in a hostel the first week, but need to find a place ASAP!

I don't know if it's too late to answer you! I have no place to stay in Hong Kong, but I thought maybe we could help each others. I am also looking for a flat to share. I will arrive from Canada on September for a two years study at HKU. So I would like to rent something in Kennedy Town close to the HKU campus. I am currently on the waiting list for residence apartments, so I am just looking here for a back-up plan.

So maybe if one of us find a flat to share but no roommate with, we could contact each others. What do you think?

If you are interesting let me know about it. But don't look especially to rent a flat for two, on your own side. I mean, as I said it's just a back-up plan for me, maybe I will have place in HKU apartment before to arrive in HK!

Best regards, and good luck,

Because of traffic HKU takes at least 30 min, usually around 60 min to get to if you live in TST,Kowloon.
HKUST on the other hand is really far north so it will also take at least 60 min.
It will be quite inconvenient location wise for the both of you, so do try and find other options :) (plus living in southern Kowloon is expensive)

Regarding the rent, if you have to rent privately you should not expect to get anything remotely nice in the 3500-4000 dollar range, hong kong is really expensive. That is unless you can get student housing of cause :)
