Berlin to Kostrzyn (PL) in mid July

hey kids,

i wonder how i did not know about this group all this time!
anywho, you know what they say, never start a long tour with a bike you havent toured with before. therefore i am planning a testrun with my freshly assembled sort of travelling bike. need to break it in sometime!

so if anyone cares to join for a trip along the R1 bicycle path (http://www.euroroute-r1.de/Gesamtstrecke/Deutschland/Berlin/Brandenburg/K192.htm?RID=148) then please post here and/or send me a message.

from S schoeneweide its pretty much exactly 120 kms up to the border with poland. nothing for the weak minded. the cycling path features all sorts of varied surfaces, slopes and turns, i definitely would not recommend road bikes.

yea, will post again closer to the date, but will presumably tour on july 11th (saturday) or july 12th. coming back from there we can take a train, its not too pricy with the brandenburg nacht ticket.

suggestions? different dates? questions? post away!

sounds cool but we're having our 'Moving-In-Party' July 11th/12th.

what speed do you prefer?

i dont know about speed, i havent used a bike computer for a while ;)
i have done this trip about 7 times, taking diffferent routes each time, my personal best was making it to the border (92km along the bundesstrasse) in less than 3 hours, but this was with virtually no luggage.
another time i toured with a friend, his daily limit was 15 kms a day tops, but he also made it all the way through and we also went shopping on the other side of the border. then i had to listen to his nagging for 3 days because his butt hurt.

before i forget, anyone who needs their bikes looked over, you can come to our DIY workshop, just send me a message about it, its every wednesday and friday from 5-8 pm.

mate i really wish i could join you but I am a big fan of racing bycicles. My baby is a BIANCI racing so I need to go far from off-roads. If you have any ideas of routes suitable to a racing bike, put me in :)
