Looking for architecture partners
Posted October 20th, 2012 - 3:11 am by from Montego Bay, Jamaica (Permalink)
Dear Architects,

I am planning to start an architectural firm in my country, Jamaica (located in the Caribbean). I would like to have a huge firm with architects from different cultural backgrounds. Every architect would be a partner in the business. I am looking for experience, knowledge and something different. If you can speak more than one language that would be a plus too.

If you are interested please tell me why and what you can bring to the firm. Or if you have any thoughts or would like to give your opinion, you're welcome as well.

Well my idea is this basically, start a firm with a few trustworthy architects with different cultural backgrounds. Why different cultural backgrounds? Because each background will have a different way of doing things and so will the clients. The architects will bring their design perspectives based on where they studied or where they grew up. Jamaica has a wide range of persons from different backgrounds. As the motto in Jamaica says "Out of many, one people". That's what I want the firm to focus on. Bringing different cultures together but we all will have the same focus, which is architecture. I think this will be a learning experience as well, because since we all will be from different countries, we will have a lot of designing perspectives to debate about and we will learn along the way. I am very passionate about this career. I don't want to meet people with a focus on money. I want to meet people who want to be in this career. Share the love for architecture and want to learn from others in the field. There will be competition and that's why it's good to have people from different walks of life. We can share strategies together, tricks and designs we didn't know about on AUTOCAD, etc. I want as much persons as I can get. As I said I think this could be a big thing. If I get a lot of persons interested in this. First I would like to have a meeting with everyone using skype (very soon). Each person I believe will bring something different to the firm. I am aware that with cultural differences there will be conflicts. But if there is someone who can show me one business that doesn't have work conflict, I would like to know that business. I am not just looking for architectures because a firm can't just start on architectures. I will need photographers, writers, illustrators, etc. Any other occupation that will help to kick start the business. We all will be a part of the business. We the same aim. We want to the business to work. We want to learn from each other and we love architecture.
