Catalan independence
Posted January 18th, 2013 - 3:12 pm by from Dundee, Scotland (Permalink)
I´d like to learn more about this in the few remaining days I am here. Sadly I don´t speak Catalan or Spanish. Does anybody know where I can learn more about this topic. I am from Scotland and can share with you my views on Scotland and Englands claims on independence if you wish to over a drink or two.

(I currently have no views on this topic)

Hi, Dave!
CS is basically for alternative Tourism, so it seems normal you don't find what you're looking for in this CS Group.
However, check out

Thanks for the links, they are quite interesting. I'm amused by the "stateless nations and friends" link. I think I'll join to add England to the list. They are perhaps the "country" that has been stateless longest on the list. Do people meet in Barcelona to discuss these things or is it just online. I'll be back in the summer.

Hi Dave,

Here two links pretty interesting.

Col·lectiu Emma (Explaining Catalonia). From the website:
Col·lectiu Emma is a network of Catalans and non-Catalans living in
different countries who have made it their job to track and review news
reports about Catalonia in the international media. Our goal is to
ensure that the world's public opinion gets a fair picture of the
country's reality today and in history.

Col·lectiu Wilson. Formed by Catalan profesors abroad (Princetown, Hardward, LSE):
The members of the Wilson Initiative are academics (in
the fields of economics and political science) who have witnessed with
some concern how particular political parties, media organizations, and
analysts are actively spreading misinformation to scare the citizens of
Catalonia and keep them from freely exercising their right to decide the
future of our country.

Time for some reading now ;-)

And if interested, some pics I took on Sep 11th rally:

Thanks for the reply Xavi. I'll have a look. I am from the family Wilson (which is a Scottish name of course). Not sure that I'd agree with Woodrow though. Maybe people will meet to discuss when I'm next in town.
