MTL > Delson by bike

Hi there,

This week-end I'll go to visit a friend in Delson and I was wondering if somebody knows something about going there by bike, especially the part south of the river, after crossing Pont Champlain (or is crossing Pont Victoria better).
Are there actual bike path on the south shore?

Hello Stefan,

I usually go to the south shore by bike through Jacques-Cartier bridge, bike path goes on Papineau from the Old Portt.

There are trails on the south shore as well, a nice one actually follows the St Laurent river on the south shore side.

Not sure if there's a bike path all the way to Delson, but quite frankly traffic is not that bad once out of Montreal and I ride very often on the road itself, with the cars and other cyclists...

More info on bike paths:

You can also use the ''bike'' option in google maps, it won't give you bike paths but will show you the road you can take.

Cheers, and enjoy your ride,

Your best bet would be to head to the Old Port, and then follow Mill street for about 500m. Take the bike path on the left when you're under the highway, and that'll lead you straight to Ile Saint-Helène through Pont de la Concorde, after you pass right in front of Habitat 67.

From there, keep biking on the path and take the second exit on your left, that'll put you right by the F1 track (unless it's NASCAR week-end, else it'll be closed and full of rednecks). Do a lap for the sake of it and head towards the Ecluses Saint-Lambert, there should be a sign for it (Route Verte 1) at the southern most point of Ile Notre Dame. Take the Voie Maritime on the right, and it'll lead you straight to Sainte Catherine, which is right by Nelson.

This might sound all a bit complicated but ask anyone on the way where's the way to the Voie Maritime bike path or Sainte Catherine, and you'll have no problem finding it. It's an awesome bike path but bring sunglasses, there's a shitload of little black flies that somehow always end up in your eyes!

Thanks Philippe and Louis!

I took that bike path once you mentioned once Philippe from Île Saint-Hélène back to Île de Montréal over Pont de la Concorde, so I know that, but I wasn't sure about the rest.

And I saw that strip of land which leads to Île de la Voie Maritime on the map, but I wasn't sure if it'll be possible to bike/drive there.

Thanks a lot, I'll try that! It seems like the most comfortable ride.
