Hey,

I'm moving to Berlin at the end of March and I'm going to be studying at Humboldt university, could you kind people of Berlin advise me on the best places to live
i'm looking for somewhere that is

1. not too far from the university, Like maximum 30/40 minutes by public transport
2. lively, I like theaters and jazz bars.
3. not too expensive, I don't really know what the rents are like in Berlin
4. close to a metro, safe and fun

Any help or advise would be great.

Welcome to Berlin Annabelle,

1. inseide the inner city circle line (s-bahn) ring will do.
2. Mitte, Kreuzberg, Prezlauer Berg, Schöneberg maybe even Charlottenburg
3. Berlin has amazingly low rents. The rents in the areas above do vary...
4. There is extensive public transport, the city is safe - and the fun - well :) sooo much to choose from...

link me up for questions left

ciao

Well, in the most things I agree with Robert but...

1. The rents in PrenzlauerBerg, Mitte and Kreuzberg aren't that "cheap", compared to other european cities they may are.

2. "Safe" is a stretchable word...especially for foreign people you should avoid travelling far away and alone at night but in general the city is safe, like robert says.
