Posted June 15th, 2011 - 8:49 pm by from Liverpool, England (Permalink)
Hi all,
I am moving to Mexico in August and will be living in the city, not sure which area yet, but I want to know about the nightlife!

I am from Liverpool so obviously love the beatles but also Bob Dylan, Neil Young, chuck berry, soul music, 60's, motown....all the good stuff...

where do I need to go to drink, dance and meet nice people?

cheers, Katie x

Hi Katie!,

The most known neighborhoods to party are "La Condesa", Col. Roma, "Zona Rosa", but also depends where is your apartment. For example i live in the south part of the city, so I prefer San Angel, Av. de la Paz, Av. San Jeronimo (here you'll find a lot of clubs, restaurants, cinema, etc., and if you walk down one block more there is "Plaza Loreto" (Eje 10 street) where you will find more clubs, bars, mauseum, etc.

Insurgentes avenue and revolución street are very long and crowed, so as you imagine it has more clubs, theaters, restaurants (many differents kinds of food), bars, malls, etc.

There is also Polanco (a neighborhood), the life here is more expensive but is great, it has everything.

Jaaa, here we have a lot of places where to go, when you arrive to Mexico, let me/us know, so I/we can show you around.

cheers ;]

Hey Katie,

Liverpool is legendary....so is Mexico City's nightlife.....

There are way too many places to go to in different parts of town (and this is one HUGE town).

I'd recommend that once you get settled to hit me up with an IM and we can do some bar hopping so you can get a feel of what's kicking in good ol' MX City.

On the meantime...check out www.chilango.com which is the Mexican version of Time Out magazine.

Hiya Katie,

Good to have another northern lass in DF. What are you planning to do here?

And yes..tons of places to go out and when you arrive, give me a shout! If you need to know anything before you arrive especially if you need a non Mexican perspective, drop me a line. I've been here for nearly two years so can be of help

Oh yes, Mexico has a funny little obsession with The Beatles. They're always playing them on my bus to work :)

I join, the people I'll be hosting might join to, depend on their planned activities I'll show them around some places saturday afternoon. I guess some place with good mezcal would be perfect to welcome you ;)

Besides, why wait until Saturday?, working early isn't an excuse, tonight some people will gather in a bar for salsa dancing (there's a free class for begginers) and tomorrow is our weekly meeting and on sunday some bar have 2 x 1

I´d say Condesa or Roma are the best options to live in, they have a great nightlife and from there is really easy to get almost everywhere ;) Do not hesitate to contact for further info/tips. Good luck!! EduA
