To make CS Japan much better, I have asked to appoint myself as a group moderator. I have already sent an invitation to all the ambassador in Japan. Next I will send some of the moderators. Please Feel free to open discussion on any topic, share your experience, troubles and ask your fellow CouchSurfers about any issues connected to CouchSurfing organization in Japan.

Dear All,

My name is Andres, 44, originally from Chile though I have lived in many countries. My wife Bao is from Vietnam. We have two boys, aged 8 and 5.

We started hosting in 2008 when we lived in Tanzania. We moved to Hiroshima in August 2011 and I was asked to become a moderator of the Hiroshima group and a CS Ambassador shortly after. In addition to hosting foreign travelers, we have already hosted Japanese from Kyoto and Tokyo, so if you wish to visit Hiroshima you are very welcome to stay with us.

I have found the Hiroshima group a not very active one, but I am looking forward to organizing activities locally and watching CS grow in Japan with everyone's help.

Hoping to do some traveling in this beautiful country this summer, so perhaps we will be able to meet some of you in person in the near future.

All the best,

CouchSurfing Ambassadors are active CS members who represent the CS spirit, so that I'm glad to meet you here.

Joined CS 6 years ago when there was only 30,000 members worldwide!
Since then I have surfed in more than 10 countries and hosted maybe 100 people in Austin, Korea and now Japan.

Also just finished drawing 365 pictures of Japan for 2011, see them here http://jmuzacz.posterous.com

I will be travelling a bit this year until August when my job is finished, want to bike around Shikoku, maybe Golden Week, go back to Yakushima in summer, and visit Okinawa (warm places!) I will have a JAPAN365 book finished so I will promote that too.

Then maybe I will do a bike tour of Japan for 2 months starting after Fuji Rock Festival in August. In that case, I will be Couchsurfing A LOT, and can do lots of promotions for CS, like pass out stickers and postcards, tell people to sign up, and maybe get in the local newspapers for touring all over Japan and using Couchsurfing to stay with Japanese and foreign friends.

If you come to Inaka north Kyoto you can definitely stay with me. Otherwise, I hope to be biking to your place this autumn:)

Peace and safe travels,

Hi J,

Sounds interesting! This group is a place to exchange information among seasoned couchsurfers in Japan, like group moderators and ambassadors. There are many subgroups in Japan. But the rest is working for specific area, interests and language. Please keep in touch with this unique group.

Hello everyone!

My name is Christine. I joined Couchsurfing back in 2007 and hosted a little in the USA before moving to Japan in 2010. I'm the creator and currently the only moderator of the Morioka group. We are a little group but I'm hoping that as CS grows more popular throughout Japan so will our little group.
I hope to be able to learn a lot from the more experienced members here in this group.
