Subgroups in the Japan group

There a lot of subgroups in the Japan group. Some of them have been inactive for a long time. I came to see this thread by chance.

If someone manage the subgroups, I think it would be very helpful for new members to find a appropriate subgroup to add to the Japan group.

You're absolutely right! There are three moderators for the Japan group right now. Are any of those folks checking in here ever?

It seems like it would be very easy to organize these subgroups, though it might take some time.

Hi Nobu,

I agree it would be very helpful to delete and/or merge inactive subgroups.

Unfortunately, moderators of Japan cannot delete subgroups.

Only the moderators of the subgroups can do this. If you have ideas about which subgroups should be deleted or merged, please go ahead and contact the moderators of those groups.

If the moderator of the subgroup is inactive, I'm afraid I don't know what we can do.

Best,
Jim

Hi Jim and everyone,

Thank you for being a moderator of the Japan group. Meanwhile, I actually tried doing it last year. I e-mailed and asked to 'Contact us'. They replied to me that they cannot delete or merge groups and suggested something else they could do for me instead. The bottom line is to move one inactive group into a subgroup of the Gifu group. They appointed me as a moderator of the group as well. It was the Takayama group. It had been inactive for a long time and its moderator had been inactive, too. As you know, Takayama is a part of Gifu. I thought I am to do with the group and did it.

In my opinion, I don't think I should ask to delete or merge any subgroups if I am not to do with them. But it looks messy. To start with, I'd like to hear from you guys, members of the Japan CS Organization, what you think about it. Is it just a few members concerning about it?

Hi all,

This is Nobu. Today I have met Yutaka, a moderator of the Japan group, and discussed the Couchsurfing in Japan.
He is not a member here for some reason, so that I asked him to join here.
On top of that, I asked him to manage the subgroups in the Japan group. I hope he will do something about it.
