The CS trip to Dong'ao Island - 23/24 July 2011
Posted July 13th, 2011 - 5:17 am by from Shenzhen, China (Permalink)
Hello everybody!

Are you finally ready to meet up with a lot of couchsurfers and nice people of you area and all around the world and have a lot of fun together??
This is a great chance for you!

You are all invited to join the CS trip to the Dong'ao Island (东奥岛). This small but gorgeous island is considered one of the top attractions in the Zhuhai area and its nickname is "the kingdom of plants".
In fact it is covered for the 80% by a luxuriant vegetation and forest where you can hike around and there is a small town named Chong where you can find all the amenities and shops you need.

The island is surrounded by 3 beautiful beaches with clear blue water where you can camp. The best choice seems to be Nansha Bay but we can visit all of them and chose.
We are planning to stay there overnight and sleep in the tents but if you don't feel like you can chose to stay in one of the hotels or hostels that you can find close by.
If you don't have a tent you can rent it there!

To get there we have to take a boat from the Xiangzhou port in Zhuhai.
There are for sure two daily ferries to the island: One at 9.10 AM and the other at 2.40 PM; 1 PM and 4.4 5PM for the return.
If there are many passenger is possible that they will run more boats during the weekend. But it's not sure.
The ticket price is 56 RMB so you can count to spend a min of 112 RMB.

We can gather all together at 8.30 of Saturday 23rd at the Xiangzhou Beidi port.
If you come from another city maybe it would be more convenient for you to gather with other people and catch the latter ferry (Or you can consider to get to Zhuhai on Friday and look for a couch). Just ask here and we will get you in touch with somebody who is taking your same ferryboat.

You just need to bring some food and drinks (if you don't want to buy them there) and a lot of desire to have fun! :)

For any question please feel free to ask!
Further information coming soon!

Hope to meet you all guys!

Hey guys,

I just noticed that it's a two-day trip. Just wanna confirm if all of us will stay over night on the island or one day is good enough for visiting this island.

Any suggestion?

Halley if you want to go back the same day it's not a problem. I think that from 10.30AM (estimate arrival to the island with the 9.10AM ferry) to 4.45PM (last ferry to go back to zhuhai) you have enough time to visit the island that is quite small but it would be a shame... a think that everybody is gonna stay overnight and camp and I'm sure we will have a lot of fun and more time to enjoy and relax on the beach.
