Hi! My name is Santiago and i am planning to go to Athens on March. I need your help to do it well.

1) Is there a direct conection from Istanbul to Athens (only by bus or train)? how much does it cost?

2) I will be there on winter so, are ferries available to visit santorini and mykonos?

3) is there a direct conextion from Athens to Sofia (only by bus or train)? how much does it cost?

I would be grateful if you could help me. I search a lot but there isn't much information in english on the internet!!

thanks and see you en Greece!!!

Hello Santiago!

First of all I don't recommend you using trains in Greece as buses are more efficient.

1.I don't know if there is a direct connection between Athens and Istanbul, but there is a direct bus from Istanbul to Thessaloniki. You can continue your itinerary to Athens from Thessaloniki. In 2011 the STUDENT return ticket from Istanbul to Thessaloniki was 65 euros.I think the student discount was 25%,so you can make the calculation to find the standard fare as I am not very good at maths!

2.Ferries are available, but sometimes bad weather is an obstacle, which means that you might cannot travel in a particular day because of strong winds. But,if you organize your journey well,I don't think you will have a problem.

3.I don't know the answer of this question but I I'm sure you can reach Athens from Sofia, but you may have to make some bus changes. But,again I don't know the answer.

Have a great time in Greece!!

I still have a doubt. I do not really know how to go from Turkey to Greece.

i thought to catch a bus from Istanbul to Athens. But now i think to take a ferry/ship from a turkish port to Athens/Mykonos/Sartorini.

Is there a ferry that connects this countries?
