studying greek in Thessaloniki

I am a lover of mediterranean countries, mainly Lebanon and Greece. I spent a year to learn arabic in Lebanon and this year I'll be finishing my BAC in ancient greek and arabic studies so i told to myself: why don't you go to learn MODERN greek in greece?
I found out very cheap flights with ryan air to Thessaloniki , and I am more and more convicted to spend a month there.

Someone can just tell me if it's difficult to find an accommodation there for a month or so (cheap, as I will be unemployed ;))?
about how much per month should I have for everything (transports, drinks, etc?)

Bus tickets for one ride was 0,80€ for two ride 0,90 (second ride must be in the next 1,5hrs) and i guess it is 5€ for 24hours unlimited but you know, public transport is relatively free in Greece, the drive doesn't check your ticket, there are so called inspectors, who may come out of nowhere and ask your ticket. If you don't have you must pay 60 times of the regular price. Some of my friends said they dont use it and never get caught.
And Thessaloniki is a small place, you may nearly walk (or ride bicycle)

craiglist may help for accomodation, or a CS'er may rent his room for you.
I have even found coffee for 1€ (frappe on take)

Why not to learn Greek in Athens, maybe more opportunities here than Thessaloniki, some airlines are well connecting the city with the rest of Europe is true not Ryan Air coming here. If you need more info, contact me.
