Danube with bike- advice needed
Posted August 24th, 2013 - 8:55 am by from Krakow, Poland (Permalink)
Hello guys,

I have a plan to see a little bit of beautiful Danube neighborhood while coming back from Serbia in September. The initial plan is that we are going to leave car somewhere, rent bikes and ride for a day or two. I heard that Szetendre-Visegrad-Esztergom are nice places to visit. And here I need your advice:

-do you think that Szetendre-Visegrad-Esztergom is a good idea, or maybe there are less well known but better places?

-where we can safely (preferably not paying anything) leave a car for 2/3 days?

-where can we rent bikes, do you know some cheap places?

-any recommendation for places to sleep? Should we arrange it in advence or there are so many places we can just stop and find something?

I would be very grateful for your advices, kisses from Krakow!

Barbara

Yeah, your plan sounds great. I've been up in the Mogyoró hegy for two weeks and it's been a great experience. That's a hill walking distance from Visegrád and is in top 3 Hungarian sunrise spots. There is a restaurant and a campsite there if I remember correctly. Check online.

As of renting bikes and all that, do a quick search and you'll find out. No worries, its a modaretely touristic place so you'll get along.

Additionally, many tourists prefer to visit Szentendre (not far from BP), but consider that it's crowded like hell.

And finally, I got the pleasure to visit Szandaváralja this summer and it's been just great! It's a bit out of your way, but if you'd like to see untoched countryside, take a trip there!

Enjoy!
