Vegans Visiting Paris
Posted July 9th, 2012 - 4:05 pm by from New York, United States (Permalink)
Hello everyone! My husband and I will be visiting Paris next week for the first time. We don't know anyone there and though between the two of us we speak English, Portuguese, Spanish, and some broken Hebrew...we do not, unfortunately, speak French. So though we've picked up some basics, it won't be the easiest for us to tell what is vegan and what isn't.

So we were hoping for some vegan restaurant suggestions. Or restaurants that are vegan friendly. Thanks everyone!

hi there! i'm not vegan but vegetarian. whenever i go to paris, i head for "le marais" which is both jewish and gay quarters. there you can have nice "falafels" (chickpea balls with shredded vegetables in pita bread) in "Rue des Rosiers". my favourite place is called "l'as du falafel" but all of them are pretty good. ask for "un special, s'il vous plait" and it comes with humus/spicy sauce and grilled aubergines on top. it's dead cheap and delicious. the closest metro station is saint paul. in the same area, try the café at the "institut suédois". they have nice soups and wonderful cakes but i'm don't know if anything is vegan-friendly apart from the soups...

enjoy your stay
phil

ps: do you stay in paris all the time? i would advise you to visit at least one other french town to see what france really is :-)

Hi,

To eat in Paris, i can recommend :

VEGAN FOLIES to eat US pastries such as cupcakes, cheesecakes, brownies ... It's not a restaurant but you can eat in.
Near the Pantheon.
http://veganfolies.fr/

LOVING HUT, the worldwide chain of restaurants where you can be sure everything is vegan. Asian and occidental cook for everyone taste.
Between Republique & Bastille.
http://www.lovinghut.fr/

GENTLE GOURMET CAFE, a little bit more expensive but a large variety of dishes. Often a real creativity in the plate. The menu changes depends on the season (each month, one new menu). French cook style.
All vegan.
Near Bastille.

MOB, An US chain, where you'll can eat pizzas, burgers & cheesecakes. 99% vegan stuffs (honey in a few sausages, ask to know).

I like very much "saveurs végét'halles" in the center, just near Chatelet les halles. This one is one of my favourite, but there are so many I haven't tried ^^
Here is a link for a list of vegan restaurants in Paris (in French, unfortunately, but you may have some nice addresses) :

I think you can also contact them, if you need further informations. They are very nice, and they would be very interested to answer you ^^

Welcome to Paris! Here's a few of my favourites:

Soya (about 50% vegan, esp. for dinners): http://www.soya75.fr/
Vegan Folies (100% vegan, cupcakes): http://veganfolies.fr/
Voy Alimento (100% vegan, superfoods): http://www.sol-semilla.fr/content/7-decouvrez-notre-restaura...
Bob's Kitchen (about 50% vegan, for bagel breakfasts): 74 rue des Gravilliers, 75003 Paris

These are also good options:
Savours VegetHalles (about 50% vegan, for their burgers and central location):http://www.saveursvegethalles.fr/
Le Potager du Marais (mostly vegan, food is not great but the vegan desserts are!): 22 Rue Rambuteau, 75003
Krishna Bhavan (mostly vegan Indian): http://www.krishnabhavan.net/
Then there is the 100% vegan The Gentle Gourmet http://www.gentlegourmetcafe.com/

Bon appetit!
