Any ideas for an event in October/November?

So we've had two great events so far; the Housing Works Bookstore inventory and the City Harvest Green Market rescue.

Anyone have ideas for something else?

I regularly volunteer at "God's Love We Deliver"

They provide free meals for people who are very ill and can't go shopping or prepare meals for themselves. They do group volunteer sessions, where you'll likely chop veggies or pack out meals. I can't think of anyone who didn't have fun doing this. Just don't get too overzealous with the knives.

I'll try to remember to ask about it tomorrow when I go in to get an idea of how far in advance we need to schedule. If it's a really long wait then we can pick something that has more of a need of volunteers.

Sounds cool. I was looking at helping out for the pumpkin festival in central park. They need volunteers to help out with recycling and restoration in central park.

If anyone else has any ideas, let me know.

I think both are really great ideas! Maybe we could do one in October and one in November.

So I took a look at the schedule and they are booked pretty solid until March. There's a morning shift on Saturday before Thanksgiving and if there's only 4-5 of us we can probably just fill in for regular volunteers who left for the holiday. Otherwise, if you still like the idea of a hunger-related event, I have a list of other places we can try.

Since it's fall, I'd like to make use of the precious remaining time to do something outside. Then in winter we can hunker down and do something inside. I actually don't know if I'll even still be in the city by November. I want to get out west for a while since the city has been wearing on me. I'm not sure I can stand another ugly and depressing NYC winter.

I will be volunteering for Green Peace this Sunday @ 5pm making phone calls to get people out for the March for Climate Change on the 24th. Not too glamorous, but it's what pays the bills right. If anyone is interested or would like to come along here is the link for the march http://members.greenpeace.org/event/view/3482/ and feel free to message me. Peace.

Hey Dave,

I'd say try to organize a meeting. 5-6 is a nice number too.
