Car/Journey Sharing to get to Budapest Wintercamp...
Posted November 1st, 2009 - 3:16 pm by from Aylesbury, England (Permalink)
Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone is looking to drive to the wintercamp this year, I am trying to find a way of travelling overland from England to Budapest for this great party. Is anyone thinking of driving this journey or a similar one from western europe? If sop, i'd love to chat about sharing the journey/ cost of petrol etc.

Maybe we could use this thread for anyone who is looking to share joueneys and either offering lift or requesting a lift?

what does everyone think?

I'd also love to find one or more travel companions.
I haven't booked any transport yet so I'm still free for any options.
I'm travelling from North Italy but I could join somebody else somewhere on the way....

James: me and the husband will be driving from The Hague to Budapest dec 28. we'll be leaving jan 2 and enter The Hague late at night. We'll be staying in a hotel as far as i'm concerned now ;-) but it's no trouble dropping you off somewhere. If you're also thinking of booking a hotel room, let us know which hotel since we don't really have a clue which one to choose..

On our way we'll be picking a CS up in Trier. If there's 2 riding (a lift, I mean with the American/Britain English subtleties ;-)) with us, then it costs about 30 to 40 euro's each for a 2 way trip...this has to do with the fact that the car is leased and all the gas we buy in The netherlands has already been paid for...

let me know as I will be taking the bus from there on the 26th or so.

Cheers

thanks again,

James

if the plans go through and all, we will pick someone up in Trier as well, and giving 3 ppl a lift is just too many since we;ll also be brining clothes and such and maybe an extra blanket ;-) and I don't know what you want to bring and the girl riding with us....

Hi James, german girl found her own means of transport, I sent you a pm!

Posted November 18th, 2009 - 6:40 pm by from Budapest, Hungary (Permalink)
Henri, it's a *big* *European* *city* which means there's excellent public transport. And it's quite cheap (compared to Germany for example) and no need for a car with a sober driver, which is the biggest plus :)

By the way, we haven't talked since Carnival, so I'll save some beer for you :)

then again, I don't drink so we'll be going by car anyways...anyone going in the same direction can ride for free ;-) unless we decide to take pt, then others will have to buy their own ticket ;-)

Hey guys,

Just bought my ticket to the camp!

I was supposed to come with a friend by train but now she can't come and I don't know how to get there. I'm going home to Finland for Chrismas so I'm thinking of hitchhiking from Estonia to Budapest but if we could organise some kind of carshare from Poland, would be great and I could jump in there!

Stefano, I would be leaving from Helsinki also. Have you found some other people leaving from Finland? My friends are flying..

hi:)
I'm going also to Budapest with 2 of my friends.
Probably we'll go there by car from Warsaw but I'm not sure now. My friend who maybe will take a car from his parents didn't confirm that yet.
And we also don't know yet when exactly we go....maybe we'll go there 30 of December. So I let you know here if I would know something.
If we'll go there by car we can help you;)
Regards:)

Hi Graham and everybody. I'm going there as well, but still don't know how. I hope that it will be a car, because I will not make for the first one and second is tooooo late. 30 DEC is like loosing half the camp...

I've just found a train connection (but PKP schedule is not covering dates further that 12.12.2009, hope connections will be the same) and it leaves @ 21.00 and is in Budapest @ 8.00 so quite good.

there is one word missing :p

hope that it will be a car, because I will not make for the first bus from Kraków and second is tooooo late.

Hey!

Anybody wants to hitchhike? I go to Budapest from Dresden. Of course, I wouldn't mind to get a lift, but hitchhing is also totally fine for me :) So I'll be happy if somebody joins me in Dresden.

Cheers!

Katja.
