I have a question about the Direct bank payment. Is it OK if I pay for myself and for a friend from my account as well? I would make two transactions with different descriptions.

Posted November 20th, 2009 - 9:51 am by from Budapest, Hungary (Permalink)
Hi,

it can be done also one transaction...spare the bank fee.
But please send the details to the given email address so we can surely assign your payment to your details.

back on the road, payment online, I tested it also!

We prefer the payment thru our site - cause we need the answers for the questions displayed there also!

Hi David,

I got the same error when trying to do the payment via AlertPay. I have opened a ticket on their Helpdesk (https://helpdesk.alertpay.com/). They have replied in aprox 1 h saying that the reason was:
"Your credit card was disabled because it was issued in a country that differs from the country you entered in your AlertPay account. Please attempt your transaction again with a credit card that is issued in the same country that is entered in your AlertPay account. Otherwise, please use alternative depositing methods to complete your transaction.

If you have moved to another country, please submit verification documents and we will change the country entered in your AlertPay account."

That was true. Maybe you have the same issue...

Good luck,
Silvia

Posted November 19th, 2009 - 8:14 am by from Budapest, Hungary (Permalink)
@Silvia, I cannot do much about alertpay, cause AlertPay is indipendent from us - we do not get and see the credit card transactions - better for you, better for use - much safer. I cannot help you in this issue - you may do a directly money transfer, instructions are on the webpage.

@David: until you do not see that the transaction was completed successfully, you have to.
I also checked you in our database, there is no payment from you arrived yet.

I got the same error although I'm a Hungarian citizen with a Hungarian credit card and I also entered Hungary as address. I'm in Canada at the moment and maybe they also check the IP address. I'll call them on Monday (fortunately it's a Montreal based company).

Hi,

I tried for the second time to pay online but each time I had the error message "Your credit card has been disabled with AlertPay. Please contact AlertPay Customer Support for assistance."
Is that normal ?
Will my credit card be debited twice ?
Thanks to let me know how I should proceed.

BR,
Caroline.

My bank also requests the account holder's address ... I've sent an e-mail to budapestwintercamp@googlemail.com.

Thanks. Tomorrow morning will be processed mails for that mailbox.

Caroline, is your credit card from France? Because apparently AlertPay doesn't like when you are abroad. I had the same problem, I'll try to call them tomorrow (I would go in their office, but they are open only when I have to be at work, too).

So, I called them and the answer was "This is how our system works and there's no way to get around this."
They told me to ask a family member in Hungary to add the credit card from there, this way it should work.
For me, wiring is easier as it's not international, so the bank fees are marginal. For the foreigners, it might be worth trying this option (asking your parent/sibling/ex-roommate to do it from the country of origin of your credit card).

Or if you're geek enough, you can try with a proxy from your homeland :)

Posted November 23rd, 2009 - 2:52 pm by from Budapest, Hungary (Permalink)
Yes, try to get some IT help:

Use a proxy to simulate being in France

http://www.freewebproxylist.com/FR_WebProxies.html

In Hungary:

http://www.freewebproxylist.com/HU_WebProxies.html

I hope they will work for you, I haven't tested them.
