Looking for Work and Accom

Hey all!

I am a Canadian girl from a small town in the Rocky Mountains. Breath taking and cold haha. I arrived in Melbourne mid-March to look for some work and kick off my 1year working holiday visa. Not that Melbs isn't a great city, but I was born a fishing, camping, hiking, all-things-nature girl, and the city is wearing on me. I need to be outdoors! As a requirement of my visa, I also need to do some sort of farm/agriculture/rural work for 3 months and I was thinking I might do it now. Tasmania sounds like its my kind of place, and I'd love to come visit and see if any work is available!

I would ideally like to be close to the mountains in the West. Does anyone know of any work down there? Or a couch/piece of floor to crash on for a bit? Is it worth me taking a plane down there in this season?

So many questions! If anyone has tips/ideas please let me know!

Hi Mel,
I only just saw this post! I can relate to how you would be feeling in Melbourne. I'm not a big city person at all. I live in Hobart and looove Tasmania!

I've seen a few advertisements about options that might help with the visa. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/queenstown/building-maintenance/building-maintainence/1020038063 Queenstown is on the west coast with the mountains. However once you're there it's hard to get around and will most likely just be wet.

Liffey is North but it's a rural/ rainforest area. Famous for the Liffey Falls- and close to a lot of bushwalks etc http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/launceston-region/other-jobs/work-exchange-get-your-2nd-year-visa/1020295580

Let me know if you end up coming down this way :)
