Has anyone noticed you can't change the dates in the Couch Manager?

Has anyone noticed you can't change the dates in the Couch Manager? Recently We (my girlfriend and I) have agreed to host some people, and have then gone back and forth about dates.

We are hosting a Japanese girl on 25th and 26th, but the couch manager thinks we are hosting from 23rd-26th. She has another host for the first two days. This was discussed in the written conversation, but there's no place to change it. CS will then send me an email telling me I am hosting when really I'm not. It's possible that this system could lead to miscommunication and someone showing up on the wrong day. That's poorly done, and needs to be rectified quickly.

Yes, I've also sent feedback via Zendesk/CUQ. I'm posting here so it gets attention and does not get marked as 'solved' without really being solved!

Or put simply:

Problem:
Cannot change dates in Couch Manager when it thinks one is hosting (like after sending an invite to someone with an open couch request).

Fix:
Add ability to change dates after acceptance, which will change status to maybe and require acceptance (or a decline) from the other party.

Cheers,

Dave

Uh oh, the dreaded default response.

Hi David

Thank you for your suggestion.
Feedback from members like you is important to us and we have documented your suggestion. Thanks again!

Happy Surfing!

I wish this sort of thing would go into a publicly visible, searchable list where it says if it is going to be actioned, whom it has been assigned to, and when the target completion date is. Possibly also who manages that person, so there's a place to go if it doesn't get done. Hmm, that would be too efficient. Too much like an I.T. company.

Hi Florian,

Since you were the one who gave me the default response letter to my CUQ (why do I always get such reponses?)...

I am not asking for a full calendar! What I am saying is that the CS couch manager does not have the correct dates for my next guest (also for my last guest), and I would like to be able to correct them.

If you simply fob off my request to a suggestion box, you've done CS a disservice, since no one will ever look at it or action it, and in this case my suggestion is not exactly what you seem to think it to be.

It can't be that hard. I'm sick of being stonewalled by CS and the various teams.

Why do I bother? Oh thats right, because I still care. Just.

Ah... a tool... that I can't access. Transparency would be ideal. Oh well.

I think it is important to note that there is a difference between accepting to host someone, and *when* you agree to do that. At the moment the couch manager doesn't necessarily work like that, especially if one is answering an open couch request. I recently had one who never agreed (didn't even reply) to the final dates, but the couch manager still thought I was hosting her.

Anyway, it seems the website is only getting worse. The Sydney group is full of useless couch reqests, mostly from people with no photos or references. Flag, flag, flag. Bloody annoying! I sure hope I can use the website to find hosts in all the countries (Japan, all over Europe, and Canada) we are going to visit between April and October! It's part of the reason we are hosting again now -- fair's fair.

Thanks for the responses.

Ok, so it's not just me. Other people also find it annoying. It's a known issue and nothing is being done about it... boooo.

I am using Don's Chrome extension and I am trying diffferent searches before getting on a plane. Let's see what happens. I'm also looking at Be Welcome in addition to Couchsurfing. It's not big in Aus, but it seems Europeans like transparency...

Interestingly, I've already been invited by an Amb who saw my posts in this group. This happened a while ago, but I'm travellling soon, so... YAY! Also someone from Be Welcome randomly invited me after I joined. Both hosts are in Germany. One is in a popular city, and the other is in a place I haven't heard of, but it's on the way to the Nordic countries, so I'm happy to make a detour. In fact, I will go (driving a camper) to various places, just because there's someone there to meet. Why not? It's fun! Adventure!!!

When we listed places and then sorted them into must-see, should-see, hope-to-see, and would-be-nice-to-see, Berlin made the first cut (the must list)! I hear many good things, and can't wait to check it out... We'll definitely say hi! :D

Thanks Anna!

Saint-Petersburg isn't on our current list, since we aren't going that far east, but I would love to go there. If it's at all possible, I will jump at any opportunity to travel to new and wonderful places...
