What the Place Page has become
Posted February 14th, 2013 - 9:12 am by from Playa del Carmen, Mexico (Permalink)
I guess this message relates somehow to the recent Community Details elimination post but my comment is on a wider scale.
What the Place page has become?
I refer to the place I am living in, PRAGUE, but I am sure it refers to most place pages too.

By looking at the LAST 21 messages this is what I find.

- 5 Request of advise on which places we reccomend to go out and eat and have a drink
- 4 Requests of advise on which cheap hostel/hotel to go to
- 4 Request to go out and hang out with other Couchsurfers.
-3 Request to send a photo of yourself while holding a piece of paper with a message written on it and dedicated to a third person (THIS IS SOOO SICK!!)
- 3 Couch Requests
- 2 Events

Ok I understand that CS has decided to eliminate the Community Details, I wasted some time in writing something which would avoid many useless messages and now it's gone.

Can CS find ANOTHER ALTERNATIVE way where we can add info which will be clearly given to the users of the Place Page and avoid at least 40% of repetitive useless messages?
Out of the 21 messages above, I believe 15 of them could be avoided with a proper local community info tool.

If I have to write continuously the same stuff (advise on clubs, advice on hostels, no couchrequests, use the open request or the emergency couch group) I get bored and won't help anybody anymore.

As a result the community, mostly the new ones, will lose the help of an experienced couchsurfer as I believe I am and the reason of this is..agin...the "new way" of changing what once was felt as "our" site but now I refer to as "your" site.

Oh and I wasn't joking about the "Request to send a photo of yourself while holding a piece of paper with a message written on it and dedicated to a third person" part...it seems to have become a trend.... a sick trend.
Can I flag the message as "trash"?

Check for yourself.
Here1 , Here2, Here3

The new changes gave a great improvement to the community...

I flagged these photo requests as "off-topic"... I really couldn't stand them!

+1

One day after they removed the "community details" I just noticed five couch requests on the front page in Brisbane. :(

Agree with Massimo ... all the info in the groups have been deleted and people asking for info ... so what's the point?

For me the problema number one is the tons of couch requests in the group page and also the possibilitiy to flag-report them.

What's the point to allow couch requests there and then to falg them. It's easier if they don't allow this during the couch request with some warning.
