CS facebook groups?
Posted February 23rd, 2013 - 9:27 am by from Brisbane, Australia (Permalink)
I was wondering if a moderator or one of the wiser Ambs could tell me the policy regarding CS facebook groups?

Obviously, there are already a lot of facebook groups & pages regarding couchsurfing. Does CS HQ see this as a problem? Would it be considered a breach of our guidelines if we told people about the various different facebook groups and pages?

Obviously, CS HQ wouldn't want Ambs to promote facebook groups that were anti-CS... but there are plenty of facebook groups that are simply representing communities. These seem harmless to me (perhaps even positive) but I would be interested in the response from somebody higher up the pecking order.

And on a related topic, would people be interested in the idea of a facebook group for CS ambassadors?

The idea of such a group is *not* to fight against CS as I think that would be counter-productive. But many other groups/communities coordinate on fb and so I was curious about whether perhaps that could work for us -- as a way to generally stay in contact with each other and swap stories and foster a sense of community between us aging "old-timers".

Happy to be shot down if it's a dumb idea... so please speak your mind. :)

OK then... on the assumption that facebook groups are allowed (which seems to be the case based on the number of groups in existence) and further assuming that a CS Amb group is acceptable... I put this together:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/624603844222811/

Please join and make yourself at home. It is a place for networking, maintaining relationships, swapping stories, discussing ideas and staying in touch. All opinions are welcome, even if you're wrong. :P

It is *not* a place for simply attacking CS HQ, and the guidelines will include something to this effect.

Look forward to seeing you there soon.

The first link didn't work for me... perhaps I don't have the right permissions.

Regarding fb... do you use your local (city, country) CS page/group? And what do you think of the new Amb group?
