NMW has been killed
Posted February 25th, 2013 - 11:29 pm by from Philadelphia, United States (Permalink)
Hello all:

I logged on this evening to find that there is no more link to NMW. It simply doesn't exist anymore. I never got a message. If this doesn't tell you something about how CS is being managed, you must be deaf, dumb, and blind.

I bet the nest phase is where all ambassadors log in one day and find out that the category doesn't exist. I noticed that when I click on the "Ambassador" link in my dashboard I get a blank page. Sad.

See you around,

Mac

I can't see any positive in the message from Sam. The point is that it is nonsens to DELETE the NMW now.
In my small world it is usual to replace something with something better. This worked quite well for me for years of software and frontend development. I have no idea where is something positive in deleting something witout replacing it.

Yes, the NMW tool was improvable, but it worked quite well, the main problems were technical ones.
And yes, the new user experience is lacking - but now it is worse because the new user get no help, no support, there are lost after signup.
All the time I read something from Sam I read "we are working on", "there will be some features", "we're employing new staff members". Why don't first get things done and then release them?
By deleting NWM the new users have no support. The sign-up info message from CS is useless. The new users don't get any hints on how to write a request - his results in the countless request spam in the places groups. The user don't get safety hints. The user don't get a community feeling - just a automated message with some links. The user have no real person to ask - they are just guided to a FAQ page to get support.
But hey, CS HQ has a number of experiences staff who knows what to do. Repeat this mantra several times a day helps to understand what CS is going to.

Sad indeed. We did an invaluable job reaching out to those new folks.
I invite all of you to a new facebook "retired" NMW page started by Peter:

In addition to the NMW group, there is also this group for all Ambs (and would-be Ambs):
