I was lucky enough to call him my friend. He was one of the kindest, funniest and humblest people I have ever met. It's a tremendous loss for the rest of the world.

Can't believe it either...

Hosted him in 2008, feels like just yesterday.

RIP Taylor, you shining traveler.

Very Sad to hear this Quetzal,

I worked briefly with Taylor to try and get the Rural CS program formally implemented in the CS site. He worked tirelessly to make that a reality. Sincerest and warmest regards to his loved ones and may he Rest in Adventurous Peace.

I learned yesterday via Puneet Sahani's FB post. Mutual friends for us both I wrote:

nothing held back that was his CS ID, He was one of my most memorable couchsurfers. He arrived very early in the morn and did not want to disturb me so he threw up a tent in the lot across from where I lived in Dwarka, New Delhi., then could not find the gate to my compound so jumped the wall and had the guards chasing after him. so there he was at 6 am looking like Rip Van Winkle and three strong guards standing around him. Yes I told them he's a friend and I immediately shooed him to the bathroom and told him to wash everything because the smell was too much. He had a great sense of humor and was so excited and happy to have his Dad arrive the next day, they hadn't seen each other for two years, and they started another hitchhiking adventure in India. well he died as he lived - on the road.

I am very much saddened to hear that Taylor is gone.

Our paths intersected briefly, in Urumchi, China, one of countless remote areas where his nomadic travels took him. He arranged for a CS gathering over which we spent an evening together. I was impressed not just that somebody as young as he was had traveled so broadly so much as I was inspired by his easy-going approach and attitude to putting himself out there in the world.

Glad to have met you, Taylor. CS--and the world--is a far emptier place without nomads like you traversing it.

David

P.S.-I've uploaded the one photo together with Taylor I took from that evening. That's now in my photo gallery, here:
