Profanity or not (negative reference)
Posted August 6th, 2013 - 11:32 am by from Moscow, Russia (Permalink)
Hey, dear friends,

sorry to bother you with rather personal issue, but I am intrested in peer opinion. At some point I received negative reference (see it below). I reported it to MDST because - to my mind - it was out of guidelies due to profanity language used in it. However MDST decided that it is within guidelines (to my surprise). What do you think? Here is the ref: Negative

This person allows himself to attack people verbally for no reason, to twist the words, declares himself open-minded but in fact can't tolerate something different from hisown "the only one truth".

As for me, everything is mentioned in self-description section and actual guests' references.

"F*ck ya'll if u doubt me
I'm a piece of f*ckin' white trash I say it proudly
F*ck this battle I don't wanna win I'm outtie
Here tell these people something they don't know about me!"
("8 mile")
----------------------------------------------------------
Basically they were saying that this is a quote and * is used - so that is OK. Do you agree?

For what it is worth, that "reference" is simply a quote from the movie "8 Mile" where Eminem's character is in a rap battle.

I don't think that it actually conveys any information at all about you and says only of its writer that he has seen the movie or heard the song. The profanity in the context of a movie quote is less offensive than it would be were it aimed directly at you; it is simply out of place.

But still it will be marked as a NEGATIVE ref on an awesome profile... Right...??
