New Ambassador vs. Old Ambassador
Posted August 24th, 2013 - 12:51 am by from Chattanooga, United States (Permalink)
Does anyone know now that we are no longer ambassadors, when the new ambassadors will be assigned?

I don't know, but I received an email telling me to sign up before Friday (08/23/12) for the new ambassador program, but I'm searching everywhere for a link and cannot find one!?!?!?!

Hi Alex,
All the flags have been removed from the ambassadors.
All the ex ambassadors should have received an email informing them about the new ambassador program, some have been reinvited to become an ambassador, some not.
There have been some problems sending the emails, many didn't receive this email.
If you never received the email you should send an email to ambassadors@couchsurfing.com stating you never received this information.

Cristian, which email are you speaking about? what is the title of this email?

Thanks Massimo! I did get the email about signing up for the new program, but never heard either way.

No, this is the new Ambassador forum.
All those re-instated ambassadors are added by Martina or whoever is in charge of this new Ambassador programme.
If you have applied for the new ambassador programme and got the approval, they add you automatically. Otherwise, you're not in it.

Hi Massimo, I don't remember the exact title but it was something along the lines of 'Join new ambassador program before Aug 23... and within the body of the email it mentioned something regarding joining new ambassador program and being able to help select new icons for ambassador program'

I deleted it from my email inbox because I thought it would also be in my CS profile inbox but cannot find it anywhere.

Thank you,
- Cris.

My amb flag is gone too...
And I do not know, if a received any mail?

I was announced amb by CS some 6 years ago, never asked for it.
What is the sense of applying?

(They even never payed me!) ;)

So if you've never received the email would that mean you weren't re-invited? I got the survey back in May but other than messages from this forum nothing else.

I've emailed that address anyways, though its a day late apparently.

Many people seem to have not been following the group recently .. :(

If you haven't received the email, it doesn't mean you weren't re-invited, just that the invitation email didn't go through, so you're just supposed to send an email to ambassadors@couchsurfing.com (which you, Dave, have done) and wait for the response. Happened to me too. Replies don't come instantly. Patience is a virtue ;-)

I wonder if there is any co-relation between those who didn't get the email and those who don't get group messages. I've not seen any for a couple months now which is really frustrating in keep ontop of discussions.

it is not bizarre..

old ambs not because they are "old" should have a priority or exclusivity!

it is always good to have place for new people as well..

Great, so all of my efforts for CS -for the past 6+ years- have just been overlooked? It's getting harder by the minute, to not say "shove that flag up your ****"

Posted August 27th, 2013 - 11:09 am by from London, Canada (Permalink)
Not to fan flames (though I am anyways) but being an Ambassador doesn't really make you anything special. You are who you are in the community. I wouldn't change a single thing about how I represent CS and myself if I didn't have a title. The members are the greatest asset and those who naturally rise as 'leaders' provide a fantastic service regardless. The ego needs to be checked here.

Now to clarify so that I may not sound hypocritical, since an ambassador program does exist and I do speak out CS at different events I would like to be clear and honest when using the title. I'm just as happy being an 'ambassador' as I am being an 'Ambassador'
