Hi all lovely CS Organizers!
I posted a message in the Norwegian groups some days ago about how to create an event and reach out to the community, and for those who don’t know exactly how to do this, I post this little “how to”-guide here as well :)
How to create an event/meeting:
Go to Events: www.couchsurfing.com/meetings.html
Choose “Create a new event”: www.couchsurfing.com/meetings.html?new=1

So, now you’ve created the event! And you want to spread the word about it! To do this, I suggest you guys to send out a message to the members of the relevant groups that you are a member of and to couchsurfers in the area that you're organizing the event. Sounds difficult? It’s not!
Go to Couchsearch (www.couchsurfing.com/mapsurf.html) and make some different searches for the areas you want to send the message to: I.e. all couchsurfers in Stockholm that have logged in the last 30 days or all members between 20-24 in Paris that has "cinema" somewhere in their profile. Once that’s done, go back to your event. (www.couchsurfing.com/meetings.html) Click on it.
Go to Send out meeting invitations. In the column “ Post message to selected Groups”, choose to click for relevant groups (you need to be a member in the groups to choose them). In the column “Send to CouchSearch! Results”, choose the couchsearch results you want.
Remember that you are allowed one unlimited search
(more than 300 members) and any number of limited (results less than 300) searches... if you need to do multiple unlimited searches will need to do a invitation request for each search.
Click “Save and Send Message as Soon as Possible”, and you are all done. Now this message will go to a group that will check it and then send it out. Usually this takes between one hour and two days, so the sooner you post, the bigger chance you’ll get it out in time.

the 'how to part' is still lacking though,

I don't know. At my age...
I don't think I will add to that wiki, maybe link to it, but what Ricard has given us here is slightly different and I think should be on a different wiki.

How to Organise an Event
Next step will be to put some graphics up.
But I will do some of that tomorrow, for now we have a basis to build on.
