Super CS Hosting Experience!
Posted November 28th, 2012 - 2:34 am by from Fairmont, United States (Permalink)
Hi Everyone,

I wanted to tell everyone about our great hosting experience this past weekend with Rachel & Andy from UK. They were traveling west from Baltimore area in the US a couple days before Thanksgiving and I just happened to sign onto CS. I had been away for some time being disappointed w/it after our Paris trip in the spring when our 2 contacts backed out on meeting us. So, I wasn't expecting to host and just signed on to see if I had any messages or requests.

Low & behold, Rachel had put a request in saying they would be traveling west and wondered if someone might host them halfway to their destination to break up the travel. We were 20 min. south of their travel so I didn't expect them to accept our invitation.

They did in fact accept and the rest is history. We had such a good time together the night they stayed on the way to their Thanksgiving visit west, we invited them to stay on their way back as well, which they did.

The first night they stayed, we had leftovers for them and wine tasting from my husbands homemade wine collection. We had great conversation and shared travel experiences.

The second stay, we had a vegetarian meal and invited two of our friends over also. The six of us played dominos and had a great time. Our local friends had been to the UK and visited the area where our guest lived.

This experience reignited my CS spirit and brought back the whole intent of CS to my husband & I. We hope to visit the couple when we travel to Ireland in the next couple years with a stop over in the UK.

I am forever grateful to Rachel & Andy for sharing such a meaningful couple of days with us in little ol' West Virginia.

In Peace, Sharon

So glad that you had such a good experience so you can enthuse about CS again.

I live in the centre of the world! So have many guests! Joking of course but it has been good for so many people to find a safe haven here. And indeed to have been picked up and delivered back to airports and train and bus stations.

Have shared many great times with sharing my house.

Be well and enjoy,

Marilyn: We did not plan to stay with any CS.....only to meet them and spend the day with them. One was to show us around Fontainbleau forest and the other was to show us around Le Havre. Both of them cancelled on us. We did enjoy ourselves anyway......alot of what we did was just get around the town. We used the Metro quite a bit and then used the hop on/hop off bus to do some more.

We could not find any real quaint neighborhoods like we had hoped to. That's where a CS would have been nice to talk to. I had planned our trip for each day based on what we wanted to do & see. We did accomplish everything except the day at the flea market. It was too cold and wet and we had only spring clothes on. My husband did end up buying a leather jacket to wear. We looked a bit raggety but made the most of it. Hey, we were in Paris! C'est La Vie!

Thaks for asking, Sharon

Marilyn,

We were there 8 days. We went to Le Havre for one day and then we went to Giverny for one day.

We want to go back to France now and take a couple days in Paris to visit Le Louvre then onto the countryside widing our way down through wine country, chateaux country, and then finally the south of France.

I actually have 4th or 5th generation cousins living in Toulouse so I hope to meet them someday.
