A good movie.

Just watched Maggie Smith in "My House in Umbria".

Wonderful.

thermos flask, silly!
:>)

well, i just came back from catering for 80 oldies, u3a enrolment morning, with tea, coffee, cakes, bikkies, fruit and sandwiches.
not a crumb was left over, no one will need lunch today and i find this volunteer job very satisfying.

now, as we are steadily heading for 38 degrees c ( about 100 f), i shall recline, wearing a sarong, in my wonderful armchair, flask of iced lemon balm tea at elbow, fan pointing in my direction, and start on the books i swapped, at our exchange table...heaven!
no fires nearby, let's hope it stays that way.

swim in the lake with woofie, later on.

ah, retirement! how i love it.

goodonya, dear kris...
i allow myself one pajama day every week, during winter, there are some advantages to being old, having plenty of time being one, and we must make the best of it.
yes, pajamas, woolly socks, sheepskin slippers, books, duck down doonas, potbelly wood stove and gluehwein (spiced red wine)stews, goulasches, roasts....

summer has the sarong days, salads, icy drinks, walking barefoot, vegies fresh from the garden, swims in the lakes, bbqs, seafood...yum.

and yes, dear kanuckengeorge, i have recovered nicely from the recent ordeals. fires, floods, draughts are normal for oz, one prepares, gets through it and then does what is commonly known as 'getting on with it' whatever there is to get on with.

in my case it is potato salad, and marinating some chicken wings, thai style.
met a nice, handsome old firefighter, with kind, twinkly eyes, when i was taking them sandwiches, coupla weeks ago, over at my friends farm in sailors' falls. he's got his kids and grandkids over, tomorrow, at his place and i'm going there, for a bbq lunch.
should be cool and lovely, low 20s tomorrow.

we'll have a great time and wallydog will do a good job, cleaning up all the steak and lamb bones as well as the ice creams the kids might drop...

as i said, getting on with it..

:>) happy roo
