slightly off topic:
i have a silver dollar from 1890. when i turn it round, the horizontal way, the eagle is upside-down to the head on the other side.
i wonder, are modern or old dollars like that or is it a rare miscast?
i also wonder what it could be worth? any idea, anyone up over there? travel money coming up?

I heard that was the trend.

If we adopt that here, imagine: EVERYTHING is now priced "...99".

It will be rounded up, for sure.

dear cousin marilyn

please take a dollar out of your purse and put it on the table, so the head is upright. then turn it over horizontally. is the birdie on the other side facing upright or is it upside down?

my old silver dollar has the eagle on its head, when i do that. any coin i have ever seen has the images on both sides in the same direction, that is why i was wondering whether i had a valuable miscast, i could turn into travel funds. and come to see you and have another pyjama party, all drinks on the old roo.

anyway, i shall search for a coin site on the web, perhaps there will be some answers.

still sweltering

cause you don use de bloody spelchuck, george, matey!

and marilyn, lovey, thank you, but i still don't know whether that eaglebirdie is s'posed to stand on its poor, bald head or not. you are over there, can't you drop in or phone a coin shop and ask for us? we might be loaded!

meanwhile, we'll have to wait for roo's investments to spit out some profit, then, for travel money. we'll know by july...

Ah Penny Candy...all the different choices we had...odds or even...who can toss the penny closest to the wall wins all. Penny Faire...once a year ...all kinds of games to play for a penny...catch the rubber ducky on a hook hanging from a stick and win the prize associated with the number marked on the bum of the duck...three darts for a penny and break a balloon. On and on we spent the whole afternoon and maybe a rolls of pennies we saved from deposit bottles. Simple silly games for us children...our imaginations running wild...all for a penny. Amen
