Hey,
I just arrived in barcelona and I´d love to climb here. Anybody who can recomend me some spots? Where to go?

As well I´m searching for climbing partners. About 3 years ago I start climbing and have a lot of experience in the mountain. Now I want to practice more. Nivel 6a.

Hola.

Saludos

Welcome to Barcelona!

There is a lot to climb here, and most of it is somehow "good", so I'd like to ask you about some more information. Do you have a car or would you hire one? How much time are you willing to travel to go to a place? What are you looking for - just some rock with routes or are the surroundings important? Sportsclimbing or multipitch?

Best regards - Georg

Hi George and Carla,

great hearing from you.

I´m open for nearly any spot because till now I don´t know any. In the week I´ve to work so I can go climbing just at the night (properbly indoor), at the weekend we can go wherever you want till around 2 hours driving.(Jorge, who would joyn us has a car as well).

I prefer sportsclimbing.
Here in barcelona I just have my harness, ATC and one carbin and a sling (don´t know the climbing-word, sorry). And shoes of course. Jorge just has got shoes and the car.

So, what do you think?

OK, good. Sorry, I don't have a lot of time for writing now, so in short:

There are many small spots close by, the most famous Garraf - beautiful spot, reachable by train but quite polished. Other nice areas with easy routes are just above Castelldefels (Penya Ginesta).
The first bigger area is Montserrat, also with many routes in easy grades, south facing (if you go to the south and not to the sectors around the monastery).
Superbeautiful and famous is Siurana, a bit less than 2 hours away. Most routes are harder than 6a, but it's so big that you'll find enough for a few days also in the range 5-6a. It's also good to experiment with higher levels, since the walls are vertical and quite falling-friendly. The village there is gorgeous!!
And within 2 to 2.5 hours you can also get to some areas in the Lleida region - usually amazing climbing.
A lot has been written about climbing spots in this group already, for example about Lleida here:

thank you very much for the help and the link.
shall we organize a trip? (if there is someone with a rope)

If we don´t find one we can also go bouldering in Barcelona.

Hey guys!

I'm in for climbing! I started again after almost a year without climbing. Right now not even able to finish a 6A, but very motivated for recovering old sensations ;)

I got a car, a rope and all the stuff..

Let me know if you wanna do something. I use to go during the week to La Foixarda, maybe we can meet there and talk about what todo/where to go.

Cheers!!

Alex
