Hola a Todos!

lo siento mi español es muy malo, así que voy a escribir en Inglés!

I'm living in Barcelona for a short while, maybe 1 or 2 months more. Living close to la Fuixarda and Climbat! But I would like to make more trips to other crags like Montserrat. I know a few climbers but they are busy most days of the week.

I'm free to climb most of the week, so just looking for other people to climb with. So if you want to climb seriously or just boulder together for fun, do message me!

I'll be arriving in Barcelona next weekend(May 28th). I have a full week off and then I need to be back in town starting the evening if June 5th. I'll be in class during that week, but free in the evening.

I am experienced climber, but out of shape since I am living in an area with no climbing now. I'd be happy to do some moderate climbing if you are free during my stay. Thanks.

Hi Frances,

Certainly, would love to climb. Are you familiar with the Barcelona climbing scene? I'm just discovering it myself right now. But I'm sure we'll find enough to occupy ourselves.

When you get to town, you can contact me on: 634026039

Soon!

Shyamal,

I have never been to Barcelona, but it looks like there is plenty to do in the area. Do you have a rope and draws? What about transportation?

Thanks,
Frances

Hey guys,

I'm looking for climbing partners too. I'm new in Barcelona, so I don't know a lot of crags around here, but it'll be easy find some info and guide book at the climbing shops downtown. I'll go today or tomorrow.
And I know the way to Montserrat.

I'm experienced in trad and sport, got a full rack, plenty of draws, only one 80m rope. I'm free most of the time during the week.

About transportation, we'll try to find something. I'll let you know, Frances.

Cool! I have my own shoes and a harness. Fred, I looked at your profile. You surfed in Denver. I am assuming you did some climbing there? Denver is home for me and I have done a ton of climbing there. It also looks like you climbed in the Needles, SD. Another awesome spot.

If you check out this website: http://www.mountainproject.com/ you can see some of the photos I have posted from climbing around the US.

I am arriving the morning of the 28th. I think I will be able to borrow a motorcycle during my free days, through June 5th. I hope to get some climbing in, but also some touring in the Pyrenees. I will also have Friday June 10th free to climb. Let me know if any of that will work for you.

I did surf in Denver, and I loved the town and the people I met there, and I climbed one afternoon in Fort Collins (Horsetooth reservoir) but that's it. I also stayed a few days in Greeley. But we'll have enough time to talk about your home town when we'll go climbing.

I just bought the guide book for the north face of Montserrat. There's all we need over there. Sport, single or multipitch, trad, free, aid...

Shyamal, do you have a rope ? It would be better if we want to climb multipitch routes.

Keep in touch

Fred

Sorry for the absence from the posts. Just saw the updates Fred.

I do have a 60m and 14 draws including 5 extendables.

When are you interested to go Fred? I am free on most days and have camping equipment as well, so multiple day trips are well within grasp.

My number again; 634026039.

Are you interested to rent a car between us?
Frances, I'm frequenting public transport at the moment but happy to split with car rental also. If you already have the scooter as mentioned then I may find my own way there (or perhaps we can all coincide a trip together along with Fred).

Again apologies for the latish response. I'll frequent this thread more regularly.

Soon then!
Shyamal

Friend and I might be heading for some place close by on Saturday. Maybe Garraf or some other nearby crag. Of course you are welcome to join. Fred, you too if you haven't made plans already!

Is there anyway I can contact you when you get here Frances?

Either way looking forward to climbing with you soon!

I plan to buy a local SIM card right away. Can I get one at the airport? If so, which network is the best? I'd be very happy to join you Saturday morning.

Hi guys,

Frances : I couldn't find the info on the web so I called the airport : there's a shop called "Cristal Media Soft" in the airport (El Prat, terminal 1). They sell phones, cameras, electronic stuff, so you should be able to find prepayed sim cards ("tarjetas prepagadas de telefono movil" in spanish). The woman on the phone told me the sign for the shop was green.
I bought a prpayed card 3 months ago and the best price was orange (9 cents/minute) if you already have a phone. About the signal, I can't tell you which company will provide you the best signal in remote valleys in the Pyrénées...

Shyamal : Garraf is a south face. Nice in winter, but saturday it will be sunny and hot in Barcelona. Personnally I don't want to roast like a chicken in the oven.
You don't prefer to find a north or west face ?

About transportation : I call you soon Shyamal

Cheers

hey guys, do you ever go (or plan to go) to Montjuic (to la Foixarda, i mean)?
I haven't been there for almost 2 years but would love to go again and be in shape again... :P

I do have a harness and shoes, but no rope, and also not enough experience to go on my own (or with a friend).

I also have some free days during the week. Please let me know if you are interested in going there!
Thanks!
