Beautiful Loft Space w/ hardwood floors. East, West, South Facing = tons of natural lighting during the day!!! Working Industrial Elevator in unit/ loading dock.
Space is divided: East-side, West-side.
East-side - is all common space, kitchen, pantry, 2 full bathrooms, open deck, entertainment area, small stage, gallery, workshop, living room (1,500-2,000 sq ft.)
West-side - is all living quarters (2,000-3,000 sq ft.) six subdivided rooms for privacy considering there are no real walls. All construction is temporary, thus the minimal construction. Which opens up to much innovation and creativity. Living quarters have visual privacy, but only lack in the audible sense. Depending on your lifestyle, certain alterations may need to be taken into account.
We are a 7 operating unit household, meaning that there are 7 total who live here. 3 girls, 4 guys. Professionally, everyone either has a job/studies full-time to make ends meet, along with the intent of utilizing the space for creative purposes. E.G.: (entertainment, construction, dance, living room, party, theater, music performance/ practice, lounge, studies).
These purposes have all been prominent in some way more than others in times past and recent. I'd say we all apply ourselves creatively to one or more outlets, depending on ones own current situation...
We try to keep an open approach to personal accommodation, thus forming a communication that is considerate and reasonable to everyone else. Everyone is expected to contribute at a level that is maintainable for them-self in respect to others. We assign ourselves to chores and monthly meetings to discuss any issues or conflicts that may arise concerning schedule.We are collectively active in that we like to house events every so often, organizing ourselves as a unit.
Expense wise, our situation requires $520 month rent, plus security deposit of $500 to move in. Everyone pays security on behalf of the space, and within a 30 day notice has the right to their deposit when someone is found to replace them. $520 does not include utilities. On average these tend to range from $30-$60 depending on regulated use, including a surcharge of $10-$15 that goes toward the house to help fund communal amenities and such.
Parking isn't really an issue, we are in a non permit/commercial area, but during business hours can be very difficult.
All in all, we enjoy having our space and sharing it too. There is always much going on: friends, art, music, food, good-time!!
