Posted November 15th, 2012 - 1:42 am by from Orlando, United States (Permalink)
Hey SA Cape Towners,

Me and another great friend (http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/denisschofield/)
are looking for a place in Cape Town, Camps Bay, Gardens, wherever recommended by the locals from 23DEC12 to 02JAN12. We are two fun loving friends from the States and meeting up in Cape Town to see what all the noise is about...
Also interested in meeting up for a drink and get to meet some new friends.

Thanks,

JIM

Jim, this is a great city and Dec/Jan is good time to visit. The "coon carnival"is a must on new year's eve.... be prepared to stay awake all nite ; go to the city centre from midnight onwards and dance in the strees with the populace.... Things you must do include: walk up Table Mountain (Platteklip Gorge route) and then ride down with cable car ; have a meal at the V&A Waterfront ; Spend a day at Cape Point (reputedly where two oceans meet); if you like wine spend a day on one of the wine routes (Stellenbosch or Franschoek ...there are others) ; go shark cage diving in nearby town (Hermanus) ; go surfing at Muizenberg beach or just take a long walk for hours and hours; visit several of our small beaches around False Bay (warmer ocean) or Camps Bay (colder) side of the city. Visit the penguin colony in Simonstown ; Our restuarants are excellent, we have thousands of them.... kinda expensive. Visit a black township, try to talk with Xhosa people, the language is most exotic, their cultural practices interesting. Visit the " castle", planetarium and museum. Walk up Lion's Head mountain at sunset. Go to a local jazz club (Galaxy)... if u get to experience cape jazz dancing (samba like) good for you. Visit the University of Cape Town and Rhodes memorial. Do a night walk from Muizenberg to Kalk Bay and have a late supper on Kalk Bay harbour. Walk in Kalk Bay mountains .... Go to Kirstenbosch gardens ... OK... I think I filled your week...you will need more time .. good luck
