What would the locals do? - late Jan to early Mar
I'm a medical student from Sweden and I will be doing an internship at Victoria Hospital in Wynberg, arriving on the 23rd Jan and departing 7th March. It will be my first time in Cape Town so I have no knowledge about where it's convenient to stay, what places in the area that the locals go to and so on, why I wondered if anyone on his forum could give me some tips and advice!
First I wonder where (and how) I should search accommodation. I've checked gumtree and craigslist, but kind of gets lost in all the different areas. I would like to live with other people (which I do both back in Sweden and in Berlin, where I'm currently at) in an area where I could easily catch a train or a bus towards the hospital. Any suggestions on area and where to search for shared flats? Perhaps you know someone who's looking for a flat mate during that period?
I see that there are many groups for culture, food and sports here on CS. I would also like to do some day-trip hiking and I've seen that there are plenty, so which is your favorite?
And where do the locals go for a drink or just hanging out? Since I will be staying for six weeks I would like to see more than just the tourist-side of the Cape, sort of "do as the locals".
Thank's for taking the time to read this far. Feel free to drop me a line or write below if you have the time!
